Really wanna see this movie. All the reviews I read say the movie isn't that good... but all the people who comment said reviews say it was awesome... so I don't really know what to expect.

Well, since the film hasn't been released yet, there's probably a good chance those "commenters" are studio plants.

Hahahaha, Angel Wars! Even foreign films can't avoid using the word "angel" in Japan! It's like every 10th title in Japan has to have the word "angel" somewhere in there. They're so enamored with it. Laughing

Sucker Punch is just like one of those J-ero fighting films like Samurai Princess or Mutant Girls Squad or something. So it just all makes sense!

And Yui Hirasawa will be playing High School Musical's Gabriella! Laughing

Why you wanna watch a dub? A live-action one at that! Laughing

Love the Sucker Punch trailers.
Love Sphere.

Awesome! This could result in an imported Blu ray or DVD.

Hey, what a coincidence, just got back from a midnight screening of Sucker Punch. It's...interesting. It's definitely a very different beast from what the trailers seem to imply. I enjoyed it, but definitely expect something slightly different from endless CG action.

Agree. Who cares how good/bad the movie is? It involves sphere and that's all that matters to me <3

I've been psyched about this movie since I first heard about it. Now even more so.

It'd be cool if the Japanese BD has English subtitles so I could import it and watch this dub.

Emily Browning is in this? I remember her as Violet Baudelaire in A Series of Unfortunate Events. Now she's playing a hussy-looking girl in a sailor fuku. Rolling Eyes

Hmm lets see -
- I know the Japanese seiyuus better than whatever american actresses are in it.
- seems like its supposed to be a Japanese movie.
- I'm a sucker for hearing Japanese spoken.

But you see somebody else's faces with kung-fu dubbing mouths. Laughing

And Hayao Miyazaki's Arrietty is supposed to be an English movie - that doesn't mean anything. Razz

I wonder if this film's any good too, though I'll probably hold off to see it on DVD/Blu-ray.

The concept looks kinda anime-ish, what with the eclectic harem of femme fatales wielding guns, grenades and swords. I just wonder if it works well in a movie-setting, or just comes off as too cartoony for live actors. Rolling Eyes

I like to imagine there will be a hardcore contingent of Japanese nerds who insist on watching it in the original English with subtitles.

It's almost like watching ecchi bordering on hentai within a 300 atmosphere. Shocked
The seiyuu should feel at home.

********* probable spoilers ahoy **********

Worm's eye viewshots of sailor fuku on high heels and a lot of short skirt panchira - too bad they're always black instead of something more colorful. There are times you feel that the shackled helpless young girls are about to get molested or raped - including the loli sister. The protagonist is an innocent shy awkward young maiden who is forced and learns to do risque seductive dances - that are never shown, leaving to your imagination. You could believe that yuri develops among the sisters.

Samurai chi fights in a RPG quest, gun+swords and mecha mowing down steampunk Nazi zombies with Red Skull. Knights vs orcs in battlefield medieval castle den of dragons mixed with machine guns and modern airplane. Train fight scene with music like from Final Fantasy. And of course, alternate realities like Black Swan, I mean, Perfect Blue. Ending with a twist.

What else did I forget? (BTW, a friend predicted a traitor early on simply because "she looks like a traitor.") Laughing
