I feel like Maryland is such a random place to have this. Especially at some place like the National Harbor. I know Shing02 was at a University of Maryland event a year or two ago and one of the rappers on the first Hydeout Collections was from Maryland but I would have guessed they would have held it in a much more... populated area.
Either way, I think I'm going to check this out. Even though it's on a Thursday night and I have class until 7, the fact that it goes until 2 makes it more than worth it. I'm intrigued to see what goes on here.

Katsucon is being held at the Gaylord National Feb. 18-20. So it kinda makes perfect sense.

Good news, but better news would be being able to purchase Seba Jun's entire catalog of music (digitally), here in the US.
I've only found Japanese imports, so far.

It may see random to hold a tribute there, but the weekend of Feb 18-20 is Katsucon, held at the Gaylord hotel, about a block from Bobby McKeys Dueling Piano Bar. I'll be sure to check this out next month!
Pro tip: If you're ever in the DC area and looking for a place to go, definitely check out this venue!

I really enjoyed Nujabes work. Lost a lot of good workers last year in the industry.

Nujabes' Bitrhday also falls on the same weekend - so this and the fact that Katsucon is taking place just practically next door where a bunch of Samurai Champloo fans would be makes total sense. And the spot is really nice- not a hole in the wall and just minutes from Washington DC.
As for Thursday- I believe they do not want to any conflict with Katsucon by putting it on a Friday or Saturday which would mean having Katsucon attendees decide what events to go to. It's looks like great alternative entertainment for anyone arriving on Thursday.
Oh and Hip Hop fans like anime too- Jeru the Damaja, Lupe Fasco, Wu tang Clan and more all helped the promotion of Anime and Asian entertainment. I think it took guts for the Creators of Samurai Champoo to use "Real" Hip Hop as their soundtrack. RIP Nujabes

It may not be something everyone enjoys, but there are a lot of people who appreciate his work. Since mainstream is absolute shite in my opinion. He provided an alternative style of hip hop which opened the door to many great underground artist. I'm not saying that you have to like hip hop in anyway nor am I trying to convince you to have a change of heart on the topic, but at least have some respect for the dead.
