I haven't read any of the volumes beyond the first one yet, but I was looking at the back cover of volume 3 the other day, and I noticed that it said Reichii seems to be reminded of the fat girl who likes him whenever he sees a gorgeous girl.
Does his inner self LIKE this girl? This is a pointless topic, but since CPM has delayed the release of Volume 4, I just wanted to know what is to happen later...
With these different body situations that are characteristic of Ai Morinaga's work, I always see the original and new character as separate individuals, instead of something that changed them outside...

I've only read the 1st one too. Hmm....it could mean that, or it could also mean that he realizes that the nice-looking, popular girls are ugly on the inside, so when he sees them, he's reminded of the ugly girl.

Or it could mean that The fat girl gets in a car accident protecting our hero, and is in the hospital for quite a while. There, she undergoes an amazing make-over and comes back, skinny, blonde, and with a different boyfriend.
In case you haven't guessed, I do have all the volumes released, so sorry if I answered more than what you were asking for.

That's ok. It was exactly what I was looking for, anyhow. But it really is weird. Too much of a coincidence, methinks.

I do wish they had left her the way she was before. She was one of my favorite characters, but no! They just had to ruin it. She just seemed very down-to-earth, but changing her looks changed her.

Does she still "want" Reiichi despite the fact that she has a boyfriend then?
It's probably just the exterior...after Reiichi's transformation I no longer thought of him as the geek but as some...popular guy. Is it the same way with the girl?

No, she doesn't want Reichii anymore, and I don't know if she's going to be in the series much more. Apparently she met a guy at the hospital, and they're going out now. I'd say that's a trait of her personality changing, yet I can't be sure.

Well...isn't that interesting. It didn't exactly seem like she was an important part of the series except that she complicated the plot and delayed Reiichi's confession...but how I wish CPM would release the next one already..

Ok, I just read the second volume today and I find myself at a lost for words.
But first, she seemed quite smitten with Reiichi and he did treat her nicely, so it is strange that she would just fall in love with someone else.
But the thing that hit me most brutally was that Reiichi's sister forced him to have sex with her...literally raped him! It was really disgusting...even if she knew that he wasn't really her brother and she hadn't lived with the new Reiichi for long...what about Reiichi? Gyahhhh! It was really shocking, but I shall get over it soon.

Heh, welcome to the club. I was in a daze for an hour after I finished vol. 2.
But in a way, I wasn't too surprised, since it's Ai Morinaga's style to draw things like that... (E.g.: Your and My Secret-- Poor Akira.)

What did you mean? I haven't read the second volume of that one, so I'm not exactly sure about what you meant...

^^; I haven't read the 2nd vol.. What I meant is how Momoi abuses his body like no tomorrow. Morinaga loves to put her protagonists in shocking, frustrating situations.

By "makeover" do you mean a makeover, literally, or plastic surgery?

Well, both. First of all, she gets plastic surgery since her face has basically been smashed, secondly she loses a ton of weight, dyes her hair, and starts wearing makeup... Except now I can't remember if they actually stated she had plastic surgery, or if I only jumped to that conclusion. Now I'll re-read it and get back to you.

So it turns out that she only had her nose worked on, the rest was simply the loss of weight. They even mention that people who lose weight looks a lot different, so I can accept that. Just think how much easier this whole manga would be if Reichii simply would have come back telling the truth. Of course, it'd ruin our storyline, but he could've had it so much easier.
