Honestly, my excitement about any new Appleseed adaptation wore off about a year ago, and I'm not entirely sure how I should feel about this. Closer to the manga always = better, though...

I actually really like the art style. It's a whole lot more detailed than the awful looking first movie but with a distinct cartoonish look unlike the sequel.

An OVA series? Interesting. It appears CG is still unable to reproduce big 80's hair, though.

Thaaaat's what's missing! Man, how could they even hope to make a good Appleseed adaptation by totally leaving out the 80's hair?
Also, are Bri's rabbit ears actually going to move in this? IIRC, the movies never even had him using the extra eyes on the ends, let alone emoting with them.

Now that's an interesting title. I'm down. Though I'm still wondering what they are doing about the Appleseed TV series. I wonder if this will be the last movie they plan on doing.

Normally, I'd probably say something like, "What happened to 4-12?" but honestly, this actually does feels like the 13th production. Appleseed is a tired franchise that's never really worked. Enough already...

In view of such a release format, one fears that the fee to license this title in the West may be notably steep. I recall certain other episodic OVAs bearing substantial price tags within R1, presumably as an effect of the hefty expenses associated with the acquisition of their licenses.

The art style isn't doing anything for me.
Despite liking the 80s OVA and more recent movie, I feel that none of those two works really capture the feel of the original manga.

I loved the first 3D appleseed back in 2003 or so, it had a touching story and action, with artistic direction. The sequal had action and improvements in the visuals but it was cookie cutter direction that was very unartistic.
I hope the new series will take its time to stretch its wings of what Appleseed can be.

The art you are seeing on the website is probably, and sure looks like, just a web illustration not art from the yet to be made series.
