Wasn't Summers Wars officially announced at Otakon? You even linked the Otakon press release.

I plan my first viewing of Summer Wars to be in a theater. Looks so good.

Hmm... Maybe it's just that I really want to see it in a theater again (I caught one of the NYC screenings), but Summer Wars' dub is sounding pretty good to me, and I dislike most dubs...

But, uh, that trailer completely spoils the ending of the movie.

spoiler[Just like the JP trailer, it shows the satellite crashing down and missing. I know it's not really obvious if you see the trailer before the movie, but I still can't understand why they included that scene.

Additionally, they show scenes from after the satellite crash, and for some reason show a lot of the plot from near the end of the movie (satellite timer, them actually growing to like each other, etc.). It's probably me just being nitpicky, but why didn't they just set up the "pretend to be my boyfriend" storyline and then show some of the earlier action bits? ]

Sorry, I shouldn't really being ranting over something so small... Laughing

I disagree. There's a reason I refuse to watch trailers, and this is it (a distant second is how they tend to show all the best parts of the movies). I'm certainly anal when it comes to spoilers, but given how predictable most films and TV shows tend to be, I really resent having what little mystery might be left to the storyline stolen from my by some dink working in marketing who doesn't care about anything but putting butts in the seats. Summer Wars looks good, especially in 720p. Razz I think I'll be seeing that in the theatre. The dub sounds pretty decent, too, though theatrical dubs are usually okay.

And now I'm looking forward to Gokutsuma Deka too. Anime hyper

I have to admit, I do not understand the cross-dressing moe. Is this just a way for closeted male otaku to participate in an explicitly heterosexual subculture? Is the additional angst of gender confusion just an added layer vulnerability? Does the gender barrier make them "safer"? Is it an excuse for lesbian fanservice in some instances? Or is the gender switch just supposed to be funny?

Whatever reason, the song on that trailer is one of the most annoying I have ever heard, period. OW. Anime hyper

I saw Summer Wars early this year and it was an amazing movie. I am looking forward to the Blu-ray release and hope that TRSI can squeeze in a listing on the last day of the Funimation sale.

@xBTAx
They really did not completely spoil the ending of the movies. All they show were some of the ending sequences spoiler[which shows resolution of the problem at hand]. For the ending to be spoiled, they would have to show some of the more emotional scenes spoiler[involving the main leads and Sakae Jinnouchi (the old woman in the trailer)].

If you've never been a man who wishes "to be the little girl," you won't understand. Just spend some time on /jp/'s cross-dressing threads.

Regarding the trailer for Mayo elle Otokonoko, are all the main cast in this show traps? Because if so, that's an awesome academy. I love POP, although it seems the animation version of the character designs is deviating from his artwork a lot. It looks like an intriguing show.

That is an interesting perspective I had not considered. They read/view these series subjectively rather than objectively...? Very interesting. And thanks!

What about this perspective? Who else can fully understand what a male otaku wants in a girl? Another idealized guy! But in order to not make it "too gay", that idealized guy is willing to dress up into an idealized girl. The idealized guy can easily pull off the flat-chested girl persona (plus points there), and the only thing the male otaku has to worry about is the "other guy's package", but they tend to make the excuse of futanari.

I'm confused; is Mayo elle Otokonoko going to be a series now? I thought it was just going to be a special CD release.

I heard there was only two traps but I'm not sure. In Japan there is a female audience for crossdressing boys as well. (google "Crossdressing game show" and you'll get what I mean)

Am I the only one surprised how good the "Supernatural" trailer is?
