Sweet! I'm always down for more .hack. It's one of those franchises that has always clicked with me. I've got everything that's been released over here (games, anime, manga, light novels) and am anxiously waiting for //Link to be released. I want to see at least one game make it to the current gen consoles, nice to see they haven't let the franchise die just yet.
I think the character designer has a thing for long haired girls...

I was excited when I saw the headline, until I saw that it was based in the LINK "World". Now I'm skeptical, because I've heard nothing but bad things (and I mean bad) about LINK.

Stupid Bandai Namco... Haven`t published LINK yet so I don`t expect them to ever localize this either :/ I really do have a hatred of that company now, which I once respected.... A big .hack fan and a person wanting to get into the Tales games, but doesn't want to jump in knowing how few games there are/will be to play

As much as I LOVE the .hack series I think this is getting into the realm of the unoriginal and the ridiculous. This is yet another incarnation for Kite and Balmung and the second for Blackrose. I think that they are playing too close to the familiar rather than taking risks and coming up with something completely mind blowing and different now that that more than anything is what makes me upset. Link for example just took characters from other .hacks and gave them an upgrade, nothing new anymore. I understand tying in other parts of the franchise to satisfied fans, I was really happy of things such as Elk-Endurance and fun things like Crimson VS but this is to the extreme, and not an enjoyable kind either.

I've loved all the .Hack games despite the cheapness of releasing them across multiple titles over the years and the fact we don't even get an English version of Link. However the anime versions have all been rubbish by comparison, with the possible exception of the GU Trilogy CGI movie.

Now lets not jump the gun yet, just because .hack//Link hasn't made itself over here yet doesn't mean its not going to. It takes awhile to get things licensed and all, so patience.
As for this new anime, I'm quite skeptical. I've never really enjoyed any of .hack's animes', but I loved the G.U. games.

PLEASE, don't be another one of those stupid cross media tie-ins. Just don't. Some of us anime fans aren't real big gamers.

Sorry to say this, but if you're an anime fan who doesn't play games, or a gamer who doesn't watch anime, .hack is the wrong franchise for you. From the start, .hack was always meant to be a "multi-media experience", covering anime, manga, games, and light novels. If you want the full story of it, you're going to have to watch/read/play everything.

Or go to one of the sites that summarizes a lot of it.
Yippee! Another .hack anime. Please put English subs on the Japanese BD if you're not going to release it on BD in the US.
.hack//G.U. trilogy would have been great on BD.

Not true. .Hack/SIGN was perfectly fine and doesn't require me to play any games, all I ask for is a little conclusiveness like that series. It's what got me into it through it airing on Cartoon Network. Although like the original poster, I'm not a major fan of the franchise. I've only really enjoyed SIGN and Liminality, and the rest were barely watchable. So I consider the franchise a "mixed bag" and give them all a shot in case they're good.

I don't really know whether to be excited about this, or not,,
I really enjoyed the .hack games that came to the uk (Infection, Mutation, Outbreak and Quarantine) and have also enjoyed what I have seen of .hack//Liminality, .hack//SIGN and Legend of the Twilight but as a UKer, I feel left out of a lot in the .hack universe.
Hopefully this will be an anime that comes overseas, but if .hack//link doesn't.. i seriously doubt this will.
We will see.
