Yeah, I was really surprised when I heard. Quite the bold move...
But now that the initial shock has worn off, I'm super curious. Looking forward to it!

A sequel with an entirely new cast separate from the original manga. I do not see the purpose in this ^^;;

Since Alois is a German name, I wonder if season two will be set in Germany?
And what, if any, connection it will have to the original story...?

This isn't going to end up well...
Kuroshitsuji fangirls are very... adamant about their love for the series, if you know what I mean. They won't take their beloved Sebastian and Ciel being replaced very lightly.
Anyway, Ciel's dead, so I don't see why no one saw this coming. And there isn't enough manga material for them to adapt a 24-episode series anyway. They're most likely going to make OVAs of the Circus and Murder Mystery arcs in the near future, so I don't understand the complaints. A second season of Ciel and Sebastian would be like 90% filler.

Right now the reaction's been about half-and-half in my end of the fandom. I'm definitely in the "slightly confused but still excited" camp. I'm willing to give the new fellas a fair shake.

I was wondering how they were making a second season. Now I know.

...wow. I can't say I'm not horrifically shocked. I mean...they'd better make sure this is epic, unless they WANT the fangirls in a riotous frenzy. Lord knows I feel like going on one right now...
Although I am looking forward to it.

Not what I'd expected. I'd kinda wanted to see the circus arc animated, but this doesn't sound as though we'll see the legerdemain required to reconcile season 1 and the manga. Still, it could be an interesting approach, and I'll try to trank the shrill little voice that's shrieking "filler! filler!" even as I type.

Possible OVA of the circus arc? yes, please! (shrill little voice momentarily distracted by shiny idea)

So does this mean there will be a new manga as well?

Sakurai Takahiro. That's all I need to know.

The first season wasn't really all that impressive to me anyways so the discussion for a new cast is actually good news for me at least. But I'm just glad that Takahiro Sakurai(one of my favorite voice actors) will be the new master

You know, I'm thankful for the first season- it got me into the fandom, and introduced me to the manga which I love. But part of the reason why I never got through the first season was the quality of the filler, and if it's the same people writing the new season, I want nothing to do with it. I'll stick with the manga; it's still great.

I don't care if Sebastian and Ceil are not in it as long as they keep Finny, Tanaka, Meyrin, Bard, and Grell, but if they don't I'll probably just watch it anyways.

What's the point of a second season if the two main characters aren't in it? Most people watch the show for those two.
This will fail. No doubt.

It's a creative direction, but I don't know if it will take. Realistically this is often what they do in filler (borrow from the manga giving the powers/etc to a filler character), but this put it over into the realm of original anime or completely filler. Usually filler fails with the faithful, but for those who only know this title from fansubs of the anime, there probably is no problem.

Not in the manga which is usually seen as the "real" story. In fact, in the latest chapter, it was the other way around, though I'm suspecting the mystery staple And Then There Was None plot at work. However, since the animators chose to make such a permanent result with a major character, the only other options were re-set from the point of deviation or a complete re-do
