This. Looks. HAWT!!!
I liked a few other buried treasure recommendations, like Ultimate Teacher and Door into Summer. But this looks like even more win. Also, Rumi is cute. |

I'm already downloading this show as I'm typing this.
About time we got a new Buried Treasure column! I thought Justin had finally run out of old shows and movies to review! (Why hasn't he done a BT review for Kimagure Orange Road yet?) |

I saw this, but I guess I didn't examine it as closely as Justin did. I just thought Rumi's lack of fear of the tentacle monster was pretty funny. Maybe I'll watch it again.

Well. I don't watch hentai, but...I'm under the distinct impression I've GOT to see this.
Wow, that's wild. I like to see most anything satirized well, but this is territory I wasn't aware had been breached in such a snarky fashion in anime. Yay~...I hope I can find it somewhere in decent quality and all. |

Yeah, sorry for the unexpected month off. Between Singapore and a big workload, it's been a crazy month. December should be better.

It's been a while since the column caught my interest. I will be downloading this for sure.

I remember seeing this title on MAL and AniDB, and being deterred from getting it based on the low rating and some user-review of it.. But you've usually got taste with these things Justin <.<.
I had no idea such an anthology as Pink Noise was produced, especially not by AIC D:. I guess add this to the "AIC has proven they can do good things, but you shouldn't normally expect it from them" pile. :\ lol, Evil Dragon War Chronicles. how can a title like that not be good? xD speaking of which, that seems to be the only pink noise I can't find subbed D:... lol, Call me Tonight might be okay, but Body Jack looks like straight hentai O_o either way, I'll be sure to work my way through these titles I'm looking through the archives, wondering if you've done the Outlanders OVA, or if you've seen it (which I think you should). and I like most of these titles you've done. A second one I was gonna recommend was Laughing Target but you've already done it. and the Cockpit? and Crusher Joe? I think this reinforces my previous statement that you've got good taste ... but then I see Winter Days... D¦... but even after reading your explanation of it, I agree with you. <.< |

I was waiting until Justin did this one. Not that I have seen it, but it has always been on my to watch list. Just I never really looked into it and, because of the name, thought it was a romance ("Call me tonight").
But seriously. I'm wondering how many people actually looked at this review PURELY because the words "tentacle porn" was written in the description. Here's a suggestion, just put "tentacle" in every Buried Treasure column. |

Ummm...guilty! Stoked to check this out, because I do love a good satire. Anime fans tend to take themselves and their hobby too seriously, so it's nice to see the medium itself jam its tongue firmly in cheek every now and again. |

Buried Treasure is one of my favorite columns here at ANN, and I'm glad that you still keep it going. It was because of BT that I came across two of the best Ghibli flicks out there: Ocean Waves and Only Yesterday. And because I watched Video Girl AI (due to BT), I started watching other old school series (like Maison Ikkoku and Kimagure Orange Road). Plus I actually like the short OAV types, so Call Me Tonight was perfect. Keep up the good work!
btw, when are you going to review Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou aka Quite Country Cafe? |

Zalis116 I am sure your cause was noble... all 4 or so times.
After watching Call Me Tonight I got interested in the rest of Pink Noise ovas. I find Body Jack to be as awesome if not better than Call Me Tonight(It's story is every man's dream!). Body Jack's levels of sex are surprising yet so hilarious; I even found there is a moral to the story - highly recommended (I also have to mention that voice actor for the main character is the same guy who voiced Godai from Maison Ikkoku[I can't be wrong, I heard his annoying voice way too much]). Campus Special Investigator Hikaruon on the other had didn't impress. It tries to do more than it should, making huge plot holes in the process. Not worth watching unless you crave for 80'es anime in general. Evil Dragon War Chronicles aren't subbed so I haven't seen it. EDIT: oops... it's BODY JACK not Black Jack, sorry for typo. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time I've seen a story about "the fascinated beauty and the overly sexually charged beast", so it's nothing new to me but I imagine it warrants a watch due to its underlying gender messages. I did see a clip of his transformation on YT, but beyond that nothing else.
