Crest of the stars left much to be desired. A half-baked love story to toned down action and alot of editing I CAN TELL FOR THE FACT OF 10 MINUTE COMMERCIALS AND 5 MINUTE AIR TIME BETWEEN EACH.

I think you left your caps lock key down :p Seriously though, the series is a lot better, and the romance is a lot sweeter in the unedited sub. |

I totally agree. The more and more of the dub I watch, the more I dispise it compared to the original subbed version. Actually, my whole opinion is based on the voice acting itself. I was not aware of any editing, other than snippits of the Ahb language being cut out. I'd be interested in seeing the Edit List for this series. In any case, please, if you are watching it on Tech TV, I implore you to watch the original before deciding you hate it. |

Heathen! (j/k =) But like Ramen and Hotaru's Sister, I also beg/urge/adjure/[insert verb] you to give CotS another shot on DVD. If you can allow yourself to become lost in the story, you may become as absorbed in the elaborate world and enchanted by the honest friendship as I was (and am!) Crest of the Stars is everything that's right with science fiction. And anime. |

Yeah, I feel bad for anyone who was turned away from anime because of the dubs. Don't you think that anime companies should make good dubs so that fans are actually encouraged to buy the VHS or DVD? Yes, that would make sense...

I agree, I call to the stand the dubbed BGC ova. There was absolutely NO emotion in 8 ep long series. IF they had done a BETTER job, I MIGHT have liked it.

BGC has always struck me as being more of a subbie's series than a dubbies series. (Keeping in mind that it was made long before we had these wonderful little multi-lingual DVDs.) The subtitled version seems to have been given a lot of effort, what with the different colors of text and careful attention to the text positioning on the screen. (...Not to mention the French subs on the DVD version.) The dub admittedly wasn't that great even allowing for the age (excepting Pierre Brulator who is obviously THE MAN, and made a much better Largo than the original seiyuu IMO) - it was just there if dubs were really your thing. Most of the people who watch it now, maybe back then also, are probably going to prefer subtitles anyway. You have to admit though, some of the English opening and ending and insert songs turned out pretty nice. *_* |
