This controller almost looks similar to a Xbox 360 controller to be honest. $50 is a also a very large asking price for a game console controller, as I've seen Wii remotes and Wii controllers for under $10. I'll admit, the appearance of this controller does indeed look clean and polished, but for $50, I am not sure I'd spend that type of money on a video game controller.

Looks nice. But will I want to buy a Wii U? Hmmm, well my niece's Wii is on lock down AGAIN, until the summer so I guess I'll have to get my own.

The Wii U's large tablet controller is surprisingly lighter than expected when we got to try it at Nintendo's con booth, so this controller may surprise us too.

For me the controller is the most important thing, if I don't like it then I don't like the system (because the controller it the way I interact with the game). Besides if the game is good then it will find its way onto a different system eventually.
But um yeah I didn't like the Xbox controller so I think if I do get a WiiU I'll give this controller a pass (looks cool though).

The Wii U Pro Controller is also US$50 so it's to be expected. However, I think this might be a third party controller since things cost more in Australia and their price for the official Wii U Pro Controller is AU$78.
US$50 for a first party controller is pretty standard these days. A wireless Microsoft made 360 controller is also US$50 while a Sony PS3 controller is US$55.

Plus all I want is six face buttons, two shouder buttons and the d pad, that's what I want.

Agreed. The Classic Controller (Both regular and pro) is just awesome. Hopefully, the Classic Controller for the Wii will be utilized for Wii U games much like how Gamecube controllers were used for certain Wii games.

Oooh! Me want! I'm planning on getting a Wii U eventually, and if I'm going to get a second controller, the retro gamer in me would be compelled to buy this thing, if it ever becomes available in North America, that is.
In regards to comments that it looks like the 360's controller, well, to be fair every gamepad out today can trace its design back to the original NES gamepad. The 360's layout is a variant of the layout of the PlayStation's Dual Shock line, which was in turn descended from the original PS1 controller, which was in turn descended from the SNES gamepad (and considering the PS1 was originally supposed to be a CD add-on to the SNES...), which was in turn descended from the NES gamepad.
