hmm...well, Mononoke was a hybrid....though, I'm kinda confused as to whether each movie will be released separately with a 2-disc set or if it's supposed to be all three movies on a 2-disc set. Ahhh!! So many news sources, so many different stories!!!

TRSI confirmed with AoD that each of the three titles (Laputa, Kiki, Sen) would get a seperate DVD/VHS release. No word on an overall collection.
I'd expect to see all three titles released on dual-language discs. Mononoke was, and the VHS release of Kiki was available in English and dubtitled Japanese, so I completely expect we'll be getting both languages. What I don't know is if we'll be getting 'fixed' DVDs. I'm hoping Kiki will have true subtitles (as I think the R2 and the US VHS had dubtitles that were based on the streamline dub, or something). I'm hoping that we get a true red-tint free version of Spirited Away (as opposed to some of the releases, which seem to be red-tint versions with the red toned down). Anyhow, I'm happy because I've been avoiding picking up the Kiki and Laputa R3s in hopes of a US release. |

Tokuma gave the Streamline script to Disney thinking that it was an accurate translation, and Disney worked on it. Several things that were not in the original Japanese script migrated to the BV subtitles. ( http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/kiki/faq.html#sub ) |
