i was expecting rei to be recast (something to do with some acting guild i think), but i was hoping for monica rial. what she did with miharu in gasaraki and kirika in noir sounded very similar to what amanda lee did for rei. i don't think brina palencia is a bad choice either.

This is a good re cast for Rei. Spike Spencer as Shinji? Wouldn't have it any other way.

Oh man, yes! Allison Keith is one of the members of the cast that I was hoping to come back. Her Misato was great.
For some reason, I had a feeling that Amanda Lee wouldn't be reprising her role as Rei. It's a shame though, as she was pretty good as Rei. Unfortunately, I don't know what this new voice actress sounds like. Maybe it's time to go dig up some stuff that she's been in. |

Yay I'm glad Spencer is back for Shinji, too bad about Lee, I don't know why maybe they couldn't negotiate a contract with her or she didn't want to return.

it's weird that Amanda isn't back considering that she said she wanted to play Rei again. Guess I'll watch it subbed because as great as it is that Spike and Allison are returning Rei being played by someone other than Amanda is just too awkward

well, it seems as if funimation is doing it's best to try and recast the original VAs (they normally are all about pleasing the fan), so the fact that Amanda Lee isn't reprising her role, must mean for whatever reason she was not able to return. Though I'm sure they'll try their darndest to get as much of the original cast back as possible.
