Who cares? It's not like it's ever going to get a release anywhere outside of Japan in the near future anyway. If ever.

There is so much anime that just isn't being released outside of Japan, it's quite pathetic.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that Redline plays at the Toronto International Film Festival. I wish more anime films got the big screen treatment in North America, that's for sure. I count myself lucky to have seen both Vexille and The Sky Crawlers, thanks to TIFF and I was able to see Steam Boy in a theatre, too.

It's a 90 minute film, not a series of shorts like Genius Party. It might see a DVD release.

I realise it's a film, the fact still stands that a lot of films take years too long to get a release outside of Japan (or East Asia at least). Just look at Eva Rebuild...

Eva Rebuild was released in Germany last year, for example.

Competing at world's most important animation festival Annecy would also help promoting Redline film for a Western release.

Does anyone know why the film was pulled from competition?

I remember watching "Redline" trailer while ago, and I really love those exaggerated expressions and designs of Koike's animated characters. Although Roland Kelt's articles says thst Koike behaves like craftsman, Koike's animation and designs blast out style and artistic flair.

Thanks.

Shame it's not completed yet. Hope it gets released in R1 on BD.
