It doesn't matter WHAT they do with that movie, it's clearly NEVER going to be released over here in the West!!

Wow. That was quick. I thought they'd at least get it to DVD before they started rereleasing it over and over again. Like I've stated before, Eva is the Star Wars of Japan.

Y'know... I highly doubt they intend for you to buy every release. That they constantly improve their product and rerelease it to keep it on shelves is a good thing. If you feel the need to obsessively buy every release and burn a hole in your pocket that's YOUR problem.
I see no problem with them improving the product and putting out a new version, I won't be buying more than one set no matter how often it gets rereleased and if I really care to see the new improvements there's always rentals. Somehow I doubt we'll get to see the unimproved version over here now anyways. |

Hopefully the final version of movie 1 makes it to Blu-ray.

FTW. The thing is, they could pull it off too! Now excuse me while I go weep a bit for my generation... |

I remember there being a press release from an Australian company called Red Ant that said they had the first film, so if there is an English release in that country, then that suggests it is indeed possible to get the rights and release it in America. And while I don't expect ADV or Manga to pick up the rights, what's to say that Sony, Dreamworks, or Warner Bros won't pick it up? Those big name studios have been releasing a number of very high profile theatrical films as of late. There's more speculation here: animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=49677 |

I think I misunderstood the title of the article. I initially thought they'd adapted it into a play or a musical, à la Lord Of The Rings. The mind boggles.
Perhaps Anno just had issues with the existing cut. I'm happy with him making changes here and there so long as the "improved" version is actually the final one. |

It'll be the final one...until the next one. I mean, just look at how many cuts of "Death & Rebirth" there are. There was the original version, then Death(true), and then Death(true)². That's three versions right there. Last edited by adam_omega on Wed Mar 26, 2008 7:00 am; edited 1 time in total |

I just think he's being a perfectionist, wasn't the original movie supposed to be really good? I guess it's not on the level of blad runner ... yet... it has 4 or so "cuts"

They do this for each individual movie. And then when all the movies are out, they go back and George Lucas them again, 3 more times. The cow's udder has just got to be this black, withered husk by now, I think. |

It's like going to see a live performance. No performance is ever exactly the same.

Except the article says it's being screened the day after the DVD is released.
And what makes you say that? Considering the cash cow "Evangelion" is, I'm surprised it hasn't been licensed already. |

Man, seriously? I'll probably go see it again anyway since a friend of mine missed it in theaters, but... I was hoping the 2nd movie'd be out by summer, and now it doesn't look very likely.
