Lucky Star Volum6 is the only thing that I have an interest at the moment. I have Gundam 0080 already from it's original DVD release so I don't need to get it again. I'm not sure about Gurren Lagann since I'm waiting for my netflix rental for it to arrive so it's up in the air for me on that one.
EDIT:
Well I liked what I saw in Gurren Lagann with my rental so I'll be picking this up in the near future.

VERY excited about Gurren Lagann. I got the LE part one, and I'm anxiously awaiting part two (this week) and part three!

Geez, when are they going to start releasing Gundam 00, 2010?

I'm sure it'll be soon. They're already up to episode 14 on the Sci-Fi broadcast.

I've been wondering, what do these "{anime company} Title Solicitations ({date})" topics mean?

Heh heh. It's something that I've "borrowed" from the AoD forums. The main purpose is to inform people on when the latest titles are going to be released. It goes by company because all the companies make their solicitations separately.

Ah, is that it. At first I thought all these anime companies were asking fans which anime they wanted subbed on DVD next
So, is DVD 6 the last one for Lucky☆Star? When will the complete (box) set be available?

I'm not sure if the vol. 6 is the last volume, but it'll be at least about 8 months after the last volume is released before a box set gets out (that's how fast a Haruhi box set was released, so it'll probably be even longer than that).

Is Bandai also releasing the Lucky Star OVA?
Any info?

From your experience, is that the typical delay regarding other companies as well?

Well, FUNimation is about the only one who releases box sets that quickly (usually a 6 month wait), so this one is out of the norm for Bandai. For them, the usual wait is about a year.

In the case of GL, which I've desperately been wanting to see but waited till the whole series was going to be out, would I be better off getting the releases now since a boxed edition will take eternity as you proposed?

Yes, as long as they don't have any glitches, which is kinda playing the lottery with Bandai. I expect a GL set sometime in 2010....

It varies wildly from company to company and between series released by the same company. Like for instance, Geneon released the collection for Rumiko Takahashi Anthology at the exact same time they released the 4th and final volume. I bet that pissed of a lot of (or maybe just a few) singles collectors. But they released Battle Athletes in 1999 and never released a collection before the 2007 shutdown.
So it all comes down to how much sales longevity the singles have; generally if a series sells well in singles, they'll try to ride that success as long as possible before releasing collections. If the singles fizzle, then it's more likely they'll try to cut their losses by gathering up returned inventory and kicking out a collection sooner.
