WHAT?! That's weird, I thought Ikeda Riyoko specifically asks fans not to cosplay from Rose of Versailles! Is that now no longer the case then?!
What the hell is going on?!

Umm, I'm pretty sure Viz got cold feet with Haou Airen's content and while they licensed it, they never released it.

O_O Did she seriously say that? -I seriously don't know-
Though I really wish I could get my hands on Rose of Versailles... I wanna read it.
BTW that's a beautiful cosplay.

I know, I know, I'm bringing up the Canadian R1 Rose of Versailles dvd's again. I think Box 2 is OOP since it's not on Imavision's site though- but still, since they aren't in english, not sure if they'd count for ANN's purposes.
Awesome cosplay pictures Looks like Ikeda has herself a horde of Lady Oscars to fend off con goers.
Was Haou Airen released in english yet? I think I must of missed that

Cutting a long World Cosplay Summit US preliminary finals story short, it wouldn't apply to Ikeda- she is the creator, not a fan.

It's available in French, if you can read that. Otherwise, the available fan translations have covered only a couple of volumes thus far. I would love to see this get a legal release, but either 1) Riyoko Ikeda doesn't want that to happen or2) she's demanding too much money, it depends on who you ask.
That said, man she looks good for 63!

Viz licensed it, but as far as I'm aware never released any of it in English. I think it was one of those cases where they went ahead and bought an author's other title before looking into the content, and got cold feet at seeing it was a manga featuring a girl dominated into something like a sex slave, and pretty much raped.

Mayu looks so cute in cosplay. <3
And ya, I've been wondering what the deal was with Haou Airen. I've been looking forward to collecting it as I love Mayu Shinjo's works yet that was, what, 2 years ago when it got licensed?
I wish Shojo Beat would get Love Celeb licensed too.

I don't know a lick of French. I guess I'll have to go with fan scans... -sigh- I wish it was licensed for a US release... I've read the description of it and it sounds real interesting.
O_O She's 63?! No way! She looks way younger than that!

Mayu-tan looks so cute! She has to the queen of smutty manga. Her heroines are sexy and adorable. I wish that they would redo the Sensual Phrase anime and base it off the manga storyline instead of that prequel thing from 10 years ago.

That's what I was thinking too at first, but it also says "Ikeda joined other cosplayers dressed as Marie Antoinette, a primary character in The Rose of Versailles."
I guess it's only okay if fans that Ikeda approves of do BeruBara cosplay? >_>;;;

I am fairly sure that "Ikeda doesn't like people cosplaying her works" was just an excuse given to disqualify some cosplayers. She's posed with cosplayers before too. Either it was definitely a false statement or she's changed her mind since 2005 when it was claimed.
Regardless, it is super cool to see her with the other cosplayers like that!

Small correction, it's 'Keiko TaKemiya'.
