Not Newtype (until they put back the DVD into the Newstand Editions).

And we have one of the Editors of Anime Insider on the board....

Hmmmmm.......

Well, here (let's just say Europe) don't come a lot of english magazines. However, I bought some exemplars of Animerica and I think it's quite good Wink.

Yeah, I'm definitely boycotting NewType until they give us back our DVDs.

Newtype is excellent and if you subscribe you will get the free DVD. Only the newstand version comes without the DVD.

I still feel that you get the most content from Japan out of Newtype, the new layout in Animerica looks crappy and unless you subscribe to Anime Insider, you'll always get YuGi-Oh on the cover.

Got luck shopping,

I've been reading Animerica for close to three years now. It was a great magazine up until they changed Editor In Chief with the July '04 issue. The last two issues have instituted big changes to the layout that I'm not sure about yet, but more importantly, the quality of the editing has gone way downhill. The last two issues have been so rife with editorial glitches that the writing now has an amateurish feel. But I'll continue to read the mag as long as they have Jan Kurotaki's monthly cosplay feature. It's worth the cost of the mag just to see her in those outifts. MEEEOOW! Very Happy

I love Newtype, but until they bring the dvd back I am, also, boycotting it. I haven't really read too much of animerica, but I did buy an issue a month ago, and I was very pleased with how much manga ads and reviews they put in.

I subscribe to both Newtype and Animerica. I forget what Animerica costs, but Newtype set me back $90 for a year (not bad, but I was low on cash at the time, so it's burned into my memory, like a cigarette on a deer tick...) Although I don't subscribe to Anime Insider (sorry, Sakechan), one of my friends does, so we've got the bases covered.

Newtype USA-
+Good articles, focuses mostly on current anime in Japan
-All reviews tend to be positive not negative, Pro-ADV, No free DVD might hurt your decision spending $10

Animerica-
+Great Columns, good reviews
-Many errors currently, so-so new design

Anime Insider-
+Good articles, presentation
-No reviews
