Hi, again. Let me rephrase my words to clear up. Just because you liked performance of certain VO/seiyuu what animes have you watched that casted the same actor?

Normally, I don't like to waste my time watching the animes that I'm hardly interested in, I'd rather rewatch ones that I already finished but there's an exception. When I watch certain anime, I get impressed by the certain performance, I have to track that anime down and watch it no matter how questionable the content is. I'll give the examples.

First of all, I got so impressed by Carrie Savage's voice performance in Haibane Ranmei, I watched Solty Rei which I thought it looked uninteresting, bland cast, bland drawing and the mecha. The other anime I watched was Stellvia. To my surprise, they were actually quite worth my time.

I think I'm in the minority when I say this, I loved the performance of Kira Vincent-Davis as Osaka and I tried to watch it Japanese sub. Since I can't really distinguish the subtle difference between each regional Japanese accent, it wasn't the same enjoyment I got out of first time. I get kind of mad everytime somebody bashes english dub in Osaka (But I'm not type of guy to verbally assault). Anyways I went ahead and watched Best Student Council. While I thought the main character was like Osaka the rest of the show wasn't too good.

Lastly I found Nier_7 streamed videos by pure coincidence and watched the pilot episode to see if it's any good. It didn't leave me too much impression. I looked into the cast and I found Josh Phillips who was casted as Jan Valentine is playing one of the character. So I finished watching it that left me with mixed emotions. I felt kind of disappointed that he didn't have a bigger role and the anime itself was to me a tad short.

I liked Tomokazu Sugita so much in Gintama and Haruhi that it caused me to check out Chobits.

I normally go be genre, review or what I am in the mood for so anytime I hear the same actor it is usually just a coincidence.

Ideally, that's what I'd like to do. Practically, not yet. Voice acting, along with other sounds/music, is one of the reasons why I'd rather stick with anime; not manga. Therefore I wouldn't say it's not ideal to watch, or at least try to watch an anime because of a VA. Lately I'm checking out nearly everything coming out every season, so if I find a VA I like there, then... "Jackpot!" I guess. Thus whatever I wouldn't watch to begin with (genres I'm not fond of, e.g. magical-girl with young girls) would still be unwatchable even with my favorite VA.

Point: I have yet to watch something I dislike because of a favorite VA. Although my urge to complete stuff is completely guilty of that.

I watched Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok solely because Paku Romi is in it, and I really loved the song she did for the character's image album. I've picked up a lot of things because of her; NANA, Rideback, Dennou Coil, Kaiba, Oh! Edo Rocket, and, to my eternal regret, Ultraviolet: Code 044. I just love her voice so much - hearing it makes almost anything tolerable. Except for Ultraviolet: Code 044.

I also watched Animal Yokocho for Satou Yuuko, who seriously needs more work, because she is never in ANYTHING. Fortunately it turned out to be quite a fun little show, and it's actually elbowed it's way into my list of favorites. I also plan on watching FLAG for her as well.

I went down a weird path with my anime watching because of English dub actors.

I watched Princess Tutu, then Chrono Crusade (for Chris Patton) -> Nerima Daikon Brothers (for Chris, Greg Ayres, and Luci Christian) -> Welcome to the NHK! (same group, really).

And then with seiyuu I've started watching stuff that I notice Takahiro Sakurai's in, too.

Between the English and Japanese dubs of Tutu...I have a toooon of shows on my "to watch" list. Lots of great actors in that show...who are cast in things a LOT.

When I saw Slayers:the Motion Picture, for example, and heard the voices of Megumi Hayashibara as Lina and Maria Kawamura as Naga, I wanted to watch other series they have been in, so with Megumi, I watched Blue Seed(Momiji), Evangelion(Rei), Ranma 1/2(girl-Ranma), Cowboy Bebop(Faye), Macross Plus(Lucy), and etc. and she is one of my all-time favorite seiyuu and with Maria, I wanted to see the other titles she had done such as Heavy-Metal L-Gaim(Leccee and Lillith), Megazone 23(Yui), Zeta Gundam(Beltorchika), Gundam:Char's Counterattack(Quess), Gall Force(Elza(Eternal Story) and Fortin(Rhea and Earth Chapter), The Five Star Stories(Fatima Lachesis), and etc. I have a lot of other favorite seiyuu though and usually I watch an anime based on if my favorite seiyuu is among the cast.

Nothing. I watch things based on whether the story sounds good instead.

I would say quite a lot, after I had gotten to the point where I would follow seiyuu (so I already had a couple dozen series to refer to). At the very least, it's a major argument for watching the series.
It wouldn't make much sense to list the actors, because it would become another seiyuu thread, however, let's see if I can't remember some decisions that were more influenced by the cast than anything else...
There's Inuyasha (Yukino Satsuki), Read or Die (Yukino Satsuki, Chiwa Saito), Le Portrait de Petite Cosette (Marina Inoue), Planetes (Yukino Satsuki), Nadesico (Houko Kuwashima, Yuji Ueda) and, of course, Kanon (2006, Tomokazu Sugita, who made the show worth watching). I suppose Gintama was also influenced by the case, a lot. Plus the entire Kugimiya Series (including Toradora), though I simply haven't watched them all.
Doesn't mean that all these series shined only through the cast, no - just trying to recall what I was thinking before clicking on Play, so to speak. Funny how I had zero leads to some of my absolute favourites, like Haruhi and Spice&Wolf, just stumbled upon them.

That said, they unfortunately can't make a series work by themselves. Kaempfer would be a good example.

This may surprise people who think that she rose to fame as a result of Haruhi, but one of the main reasons I watched the first episode of Haruhi was to hear more of Aya Hirano after Kiddy Grade, and then the second because she only spoke a few words at the end...
As far as English goes, the name most likely to sell a series for me is Crispin Freeman, just because.

I saw Sora no Manimani because of Reiko Takagi. Edogawa was a character wasted on such a shitty, shitty show....

I don't see the point to watching a show just because of a VA. A crappy show with a famous VA in the cast still sucks. I guess the closest I get is that I was excited to learn Gackt was playing a character in Shiki, but I was already interested in it before I learned that. And if Shiki flops, I'll drop it regardless of Gackt being in it.

I'll try anything (other than moe-harem shows) that includes performances by Kuwashima Houko, Paku Romi, or Sakurai Takahiro.

I've done it once and Reiko Takagi is the reason. She has this voice that is just perfect for absurd moments. You may know her as Sakura from Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan where her voice is perfect when he's getting decapitated and such. She made three minutes out of every episode of Sora no Manimani worth it.

Well, I usually won't watch a show I don't think I'd like even if a favorite voice actor is in it. I mean...I like Chris Patton, but I'm not going to watch Air Gear. Laughing I usually just use a cast to help me find a show I otherwise maybe wouldn't check out.

Oh! and Yuna reminded me--I watched an episode of Trapeze because Takahiro Sakurai was in it. That was mostly for the lulz because of the live-action acting the series has in it.

Sakurai's work in House of Five Leaves is probably his best performance since Bakeneko/Mononoke.
