Starting on February 3, 2025, manga enthusiasts, industry professionals, and fans alike will have the opportunity to nominate their new-and-upcoming manga gems for this year's list. The nomination process will be open to all, allowing the global community to contribute to a diverse and inclusive selection of remarkable titles. This year, fans will also have the unique opportunity to write a message directly to the author of the work they are nominating.
“Manga is a universal language that transcends borders, and You Should Read This Manga 2025 celebrates the creativity and artistry that make this medium so special,” says Atsushi Mizoguchi, CEO of MyAnimeList. “We're excited to see the incredible titles our community will bring forward this year.”
Each year, MyAnimeList has been honored to receive personal messages from manga authors whose work was selected, and these messages are added to the final list for fans to enjoy. During nominations, voters have the option to explain why they are passionate about recommending this manga to other fans, and one of these comments is also carefully chosen for display on the final list.

You Should Read This Manga 2025: All categories
● At least one volume of the manga was published overseas in 2024.
● The manga's Rank & Popularity on MAL are both under #50.
● If the series is completed, it finished serialization in 2022 or later.
Main List:
● You really want to recommend this manga to a friend!
Should Be Anime:
● Cannot have had an anime adaptation in the last 5 years.
Best for Beginners:
● Can easily be enjoyed by new manga readers (e.g. already adapted to incomplete
anime).
Unique Art/Story:
● For well-versed manga readers who are looking for something fresh.
