So I just went & bought Queen's Blade vol. 1. I noticed that Media Blasters uses horrible dvd cases, unprofessional, loose factory shrink-wrapping and even their box art seems like it's not as brightly colored, like something that came out 5 years ago. And lastly, upon first opening why are there absolutely no inserts in the dvd case at all? Just a disc. Did I somehow get re-sealed used copy (almost impossible) or what? Even the actual dvd case they used seemed ridiculously cheap.

Nope, that's MB for you. It's kinda your fault for buying Queen's Blade in the first place, haha. I don't expect very amazing quality off of MB because most of their stuff (when not released in singles) is pretty cheap. 15 dollars for Dokuro-chan was some money well spent on a product that was cheap to make.

Well this is the first time I'm buying a series volume by volume instead of waiting for a box set. But even the box set of ah my buddha looked cheap (I don't have it & I never will), so like you said, Media Blasters have just about bootleg quality cases & outer art sleeves, with absolutely no paper catalogues, art or even subscription mailers inside. But what about the viewing quality of the actual disc? When I watch everything will it look as good as Funimation, or even Section23?

That is Media Blasters for you, if the disk isn't broken or cracked, the product is still sellable. Even if the disk is damaged, they will probably still sell the product.
The only series that Media Blasters licensed that are somewhat intelligent are Genshiken and Rurouni Kenshin. It seems like everything else is either fanservice based or harem based.
Don't get me wrong I like both (granted the characters are 18 or older) but there is no way I'd actually purchase a series like that.

The quality varies on the series. Earlier series like Madara looked kinda shoddy, but Dokuro-chan looked pretty good. Their quality definitely better than bootlegs, that's for sure.
The thing about MB is they tend to release series that have to be made on the cheap to make a profit. I can't really complain all that much though.

Shitty release for a shitty series. It's appropriate.

Im not sure about their other packaging, but Beast King Go-Lion and Space Knight Tekkaman Blade have the best DVD packaging on the planet. I love those digi-books (I think that's their technical term)

I've never paid attention, honestly. The first thing I do is remove the disk and insert, toss the rest, and convert to thinpak cases.

Also add Moribito to the safe list, but yeah they have a lot of fluff titles and aren't exactly my favorite company. All I'm buying from them at the moment is Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny. I'll probabally buy Great Guardians when it's released, since I'm a completest, but I can wait for a boxset on that one.
I can't really help you with Queen's Blade releases. I've seen it, well suffered through it actually, and it wouldn't be something I'd buy.

Media Blasters has some great fantasy series: Berserk, Magic Knight Rayearth, Moribito, Twelve Kingdoms, etc.
They also have some good comedy series, and then a bunch of fan service shows.

Let's not forget: Figure 17, Giant Robo, GaoGaiGar, Ah! My Goddess TV S1 (sort of harem I guess), Otogi Zoshi, Record of Lodoss War, and Seraphim Call, among others.
Everybody has to cut corners somewhere, given the state of the anime market and the economy in general. I don't mind a few cuts in packaging quality if it keeps the company healthy.

Those are both more "mainstream" titles, though.

Everyone has different opinions. If anyone thinks Queen's Blade, Kanokon or IkkiTousen is crap, then it's likely that they just don't like anime with that much fanservice/ecchi. As a matter of fact, I don't know why they'd ever even watch a second of it. I love ecchi, and I don't care how much you hate Queen's Blade, you can't deny that it gets its job done -- the target audience are ecchi fans, and it EXCEEDS in that category. I love QB, I'm simply saying I wish Funimation had it licensed. And Teriyaki Terrier, you said "The only series that Media Blasters licensed that are somewhat intelligent are Genshiken and Rurouni Kenshin. It seems like everything else is either fanservice based or harem based." So who isn't intelligent? Media Blasters? The creators of Queen's Blade? I wouldn't think putting a product out there that sells like Hotcakes would be an unintelligent decision.

Well, most people wouldn't consider IkkiTousen to be too different from Queen's Blade. Obviously both 99.9% ecchi titles...

Queen's Blade relies on fetishes. Ikki Tousen is a show for guys who just like big boobs. Queen's Blade is ten times creepier.
