I must say that it's strange that they mentioned Railgun getting licensed but not Index.

I would have thought that those two would be licensed together,

Looking forward to getting the rest of Hellsing OAVs finally. Didn't feel like downloading them, so I've been waiting a loooooooong time.

"Black Lagoon, Hellsing, and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun will all be released by FUNimation in the United States, the latter of which is the only new announcement."

Railgun I know Funimation hasn't announced but about Black Lagoon, when did Funimation announce that they have Roberta's Blood Trail?
From all the pimping it's receiving at AX maybe Funimation will announce that they have it at their panel or did I miss Funimation announcing Black Lagoon OAV acquisition somewhere?

What? If? Anime cry

Oh well. At least they're doing things in Japan which may help us here.

Wait. What? So is Funimation releasing the rest of the Hellsing OVA? Because unless I missed something, that would definitely be a new announcement.

Quick question, I haven't seen Index or Railgun but it seems like only Railgun is licensed, they're just stories set in the same world but not connected, right?

And wohoo for anime themes on itunes! I'm not familiar with the ones they listed but I'd love to be able to get OSTs or at least OP/ED themes off of itunes instead of having to order from Japan.

I think Geneon only owns the rights to Railgun, not Index. So that's why Railgun is the only one mentioned.

Index was the original light novel and the first TV series, while Railgun was a manga spinoff with one of the side female caharacters. As far as connection, there is certainly some portion where the two are interconnected, both show how Touma (main character of Index) and Misaka (main character of Railgun) meet, from the two different perspectives. In the manga particularly, they're at a point where the two overlap quite a bit, but that hasn't been animated yet.

I'm really perplexed at how the spinoff got licensed before the actual original show, with the light novel plot. It's really strange.

Because Railgun is almost universally considered to be a superior show. The plot in Index is rather haphazard, and wordswordswords, etc.

Railgun also focuses on the most popular character in the Index universe -- Misaka. And kinda has the K-on Factor going for it with "cute girls doing cute things" at points in the show that Index doesn't have.

Your own opinion =/= universal consideration.

Know the difference.

I agree. I personally prefer Index over Railgun, despite being a rather big fan of Misaka. When she's not around Touma she just isn't quite as fun to watch.

Not to mention that if someone watches Railgun without seeing Index first there are problems like spoiler[them not explaining Touma's Imagine Breaker, which he uses during that graviton explosion at the mall-place to save Biribiri and the little girl]
