What is the reason that when i try to rate a anime, i can't choose sth like cantonese dubbed, traditional chinese subbed, simpified chinese subbed or mandrian dubbed version? and what is the different between edited dub and dubbed?

I don't know why there are no language options other than English and Japanese other than that this is primarily an English site.
"Edited dub" would refer to an abridged, modified or censored version, as in the American TV versions of Cardcaptors, Sailor Moon etc, which can differ enough from the original Japanese version, which may also be available in an unedited form, to earn it a different rating (I would rate the English Cardcaptors dub lower than the English subs for example). |

Adding languages that span across borders can be very tricky, particularly when spoken and written ones have different names. With that in mind, I am the only person who can add info in Chinese to the Encyclopedia, and it took me almost four years to earn that privilege. Please be patient while we try formulating a better way.

I'm pretty sure he was asking not about adding information but about this:
When rating an anime you can choose the version you saw, but there are only English and Japanese options - at least that is the case for all the popular titles I checked. |

I would like to add Chinese support the Encyclopedia, but it's quite tricky due to how the Chinese languages are structured vs. how the Encyclopedia is structured. The explanation for this can be found in your first post:
So as you illustrated yourself, there is no such thing as cantonese subbed, traditional chinese dubbed, simplified chinese dubbed or mandrian subbed versions. But in the Encyclopedia, for each language, we have the option of subtitled or dubbed (or edited dub). So if I added a "Chinese" language we would get * Chinese subtitled (traditional or simplified?) * Chinese dubbed (Mandarin or Cantonese or something else?) if I added "Mandarin" * Mandarin subtitled (er, you mean "simplified chinese" right?) * Mandarin dubbed if I added "Cantonese" * Cantonese subtitled (is this "simplified chinese" too?) * Cantonese dubbed if I added "Simplified Chinese" * Simplified Chinese subtitled * Simplified Chinese dubbed (doesn't make sense right?) if I added "Traditional Chinese" * Traditional Chinese subtitled * Traditional Chinese dubbed (doesn't make sense right?) So we're in a deadlock until Encyc v2.0

In fact there is a "Cantonese subbed": subtitles using written Cantonese, which can be found only in Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set (HKSCS); it has its own Wikipedia. While written Cantonese is not taught in schools (classes are conducted in spoken Cantonese but all writings are in standard Vernacular Chinese), it is fairly common in mass media e.g. advertising so people find the ad easier to understand. While it is not common to use written Cantonese in the entire subtitle, written Cantonese subtitles are used if the character is a delinquent, lowly educated, or "grassroot-ish" in any other way. By the way, it is not easy for most users to type those characters using GB, Big5, or Unicode (at least I can't type them). As for the spoken Mandarin, dubs of either sides of the Strait have different tones and word usages. Fortunately, they are not that different and are comparable to British and American English. To make things worse, there were a few anime dubbed in Hakka; now they've got Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children: Light & Dark. See how complex it is?
