You're kidding right? This isn't the Gamefaqs or Adultswim message board, I'm pretty sure we're all a little more mature than that here. Wink

Anyway, the picture is pretty damn funny, kinda looks like something you'd see on South Park.

ANN is not a politics board. If you wish to continue discussing politics... well, don't.

I would like to add to but agree with Cookie's request.

Although we understand thatit is pretty hard to discuss this article without discussing politics, please try to keep the discussion relevant to the actual isuue, that is, the ad that we reported on.

Who should / should've won, their political stances other than those covered by the ad, all that is to OT.

Thanks.

If Bush was trying to reel in some supporters in the anime community, he really did it the wrong way. Not only using an anime character to represent a yakuza (when the chara isn't even one) and then fussing with it to make it look "evil" is really really stupid.

I doubt anyone in the Bush camp was trying to "reel in" anyone from the anime community. The whole intent of the ad was to make Kerry look like someone who's out of touch with reality. So out of touch, in fact, that he is chasing after cartoon villians while ignoring actual threats (an example of rhetorical hyperbole). How well it conveys that idea is up for debate, personally I think it reflects more negatively on the Bush camp, but hey it's only one commercial.

Well, I gave the link to a friend.

His comment: "Well, at least they didn't make him slant eyed and called him a [racial slurs edited out]. The thing kinda reminded me of those old Disney and WB WWII cartoons.

If Bush was trying to get Anime fans to vote him he'd probbly (well Chany) would alter a sence from an anime where they tlak about how Kerry will be a bad president. Then again it plobaly backfire and make anime fans angery.

P.S. G.W. Bush looks is smarter then he looks which means he is smarter then a monkey becuse if you think about it he does look like a monkey.

That's some brilliant political rhetoric there. Makes those of us who are trying to make sure he doesn't get elected look mighty smart, too.

We will most certainly see worse by both sides before it is over.

As far as the voter turnout issue. Easy fix. Raise taxes by 2-3%, then give the exact same amount as a tax break for voting in local and federal elections. Therefore the net effect is a tax on people who choose not to vote. Razz

Make the non voters PAY and see if it doesn't drive a few more out to participate. Then jack up the pentalty tax to 10%.
