I can go to some comic stores nearby that are participating! *happy* Very Happy

"Free comic book day" not "Free manga day", just a thought....

*ahem* manga are technically comics too.
They're just usually not in the "traditional"/ American style that is still common for a lot of North American comics. But, in the general sense, they are comics.
(and yes, I realize that a lot of people here are saying "comics" when they mean "American style comics" -- but "Free Comic Book Day" seems to be using the more general definition for "comics," thus, there's no problem with having some free manga included in the freebies selection :p)

Agreed, and the last time I checked manga meant comics in Japanese, or is that false?

As far as I know.

And, that's what JEDI says...

[漫画] [まんが] [manga] (n) comic/cartoon/(P)
[漫画雑誌] [まんがざっし] [mangazasshi] (n) comic book
[漫画本] [まんがほん] [mangahon] (n) comic book
[漫画家] [まんがか] [mangaka] (n) cartoonist/manga artist

(I believe that's in the order of Kanji, Katakana, Romaji...)

Just keep in mind that this use of cartoon is still in the comic sense of the word (such as a political cartoon), not the animated sense.

Does anyone know what stores are supposed to be participating? I mean is it only comic book stores or is there a chance that Borders or Barnes and Noble may be participating? The only comic store I know of around me only sells vintage american comics so otherwise, I won't get to take part in it Sad

Sure I dunno about Barnes and noble or anything but some of your local book stores might and hastings entertainment superstores are. I can't wait to go this weekend and get some ooh and fireworks hehe Cool

[Stares at the news and just starts burning with anger. Eventually moves near a wall and starts acting up and beating up the wall, shouting and cursing excessively, etc.]

I *saw* this date at least a month ago and what did I do? I forgot the precise date and end up finding out it was 2 days ago (as in "2 day too late... @.@ Anime cry)! I even used the free comic day tracker and found out the sites were within accessibility. *weeps and whines profusely*

Oh well, maybe I'll catch the leftovers that someone else mentioned or there's next year... :/ I suppose if I had put a little more effort or heart into it, I'd have a sampler or two with me now but... :/
