I recently rented Samurai Warriors and I noticed the Gensai Kawakami (Rurouni Kenshin) doesn't show up in the game at all. Maybe it's the wrong era but I wish he was on there.

Yeah, he's not there because this game takes place about 300 years before he's supposed to exist. At least they have a guy named Kenshin though.
I love the Japanese voice cast for this game. Unfortunately, the gameplay has gotten a bit boring now, so I'd rather play Dynasty Warriors instead.

Dynasty and Samurai are pretty much the same. Same company, same type of game play. All that's different is the name, time period, and place.

Well, Samurai Warriors is a lot like Dynasty Warriors, but that whole skill points system takes a lot of time to max out, because once you level up your officer ranking to full, you can't get anymore skill points.
Whereas Dynasty Warriors didn't have to worry about that. It's a lot more simplistic in terms of just hacking and slashing your way to conquering China.
I also like the fact that Dynasty Warriors had a LOT more characters, which I think adds a little more diversity.
I'm pretty sure though that once Koei makes a sequal to Samurai Warriors, they'll probably put in a few more characters.
But yeah, the only thing about Samurai Warriors that turns me off is that skill thing. It's a cool feature, but really requires a lot of free time, which I don't have at the moment.

Yeah, I really like the many different characters you can be in Dynasty Warriors. Where as you can only be about 10 or 15 characters in Samurai, but you can also make your own character and a story to it.
PS: You changed your avatar to Burns Tony K.? Thought you were sticking to the good gold Shinomori Aoshi.

Yeah, this is just a random avatar I felt like putting up. I think I'll start doing this every so often, or whenever I feel like it. I"ll only leave them up for a few hours to day though.
I'm glad you noticed at least, maybe I'll change it back now...

It would have been nice to have Kenshin in the Samurai Warriors but as Tony already mentioned the game takes place before the Meiji era. As for the game itself, I love it. the new additions to the battle system are great(like the new combos the significant changes to the musou attacks and the deadlock changes).
I'm a big fan of the warriors series in general, but despite this, i think Samurai warriors lacks the large showdown battles that Dynasty Warriors had like the battle of He Fei and the battle of Yi Ling etc. As a result, the battles seem easier and on top of that, the battle "missions" put a few restrictions on my battle strategy. I loved being able to expriment with different battle strategies, but now i feel obligated to help certain people or do certain things. Anyway , with or without Kenshin and with or without large battles it's still a great game

Why is this topic in the Encyclopedia forum, and how has it lasted here this long?
