Still waiting for box office returns, but I guess that 500 Days of Summer crowd was probably good for it this weekend. Or maybe the Harry Potter fans wanted something else to watch while waiting for the next show.

One day I'll check it out, hopefully soon and I hope it's better than the Anime version too.

Found Blood the movie to be disappointing because I was expecting a more faithful adaptations. At least closer than what was made (there were only two short scenes that were actually very similar). They have some awesome actors for the supporting cast who were surprisingly disappointing. The lead, Gianna, was surprisingly pretty good (not the best but better than my own expectations).
500 Days of Summer did pretty well this weekend for a limited release hitting like 8K/9K per theater considering it was only released in 27 theaters across the nation. Personally I am looking forward to it as it comes to city near me next week |

500 Days of Summer's PSA is more like $31K in the weekend estimates, not just $9K. That's why Blood's performance last weekend wasn't anything special; while it beat all but the highest 2 or 3 films in the top 10 in terms of PSA, limited release films really have to be in the five digits for PSA for there to be any hope of serious expansion. |

Tenchi: Blood's box office is impressive for a film with niche appeal. 500 Days of Summer has broad appeal, but that's only because they axed the R-rating at the last minute.

I don't remember the anime well enough to compare the two, but I went in to this movie expecting it to suck and was pleasantly surprised when it was actually pretty fun. It's not really good, per se, but it's fun. |

Yay, they're bringing it to the southeast....
oh wait... we're still not worth a screening anywhere east of Dallas.... never mind. F-U, Sony. |

I remember watching the so-called Dubbed Version and it was bad, the voice acting wasn't impressive, it was more Subbed than Dubbed, and it wasn't nearly as impressive as Blood+ even though Blood+ came years later but still I still say I hope that the Live Action is better than the Anime but I'll take your word for it when you say the Live Action was fun. I really do want to see this. |

I hope they bring it to a theater near you, then! |

Except for, I dunno, Chicago, Somervilla (MA), Arlington (VA), and Washington D.C., all of which are east of Dallas. True, none of those are in the southeastern quarter of the US, but strive for some accuracy in your posts. |

Conversely, I kinda found the two "faithful" scenes rather jarring for a movie that wasn't a close adaptation. It didn't help that they relied more heavily on the special/creature effects, which were.... yeah. |
