If you had an opportunity to liscence an unliscenced anime to be dubbed or subbed, which anime and which company would it be?
For me, since InuYasha is already liscenced, I would prefer SailorMoonStars to be liscenced by Cloverway (like S and SuperS). I want no cut scenes and the same music on DVD. What about you guys? Don't forget which anime and which company, and please give reasons! Here are some company examples: 4kids, DIC, Cloverway, Funimation, ADV, MediaBlasters, VIZ, BangZoom, and many more. |

Aishiteru-ze Baby (FUNimation) -- The show puts off some serious Fruits Basket vibes, if you ask me. And since FUNimation handled that series so well, it'd only be expected that they'd give this show a similar treatment.
Boogiepop & Others (The Right Stuf International) -- They handled the Boogiepop Phantom anime, and it's clear they seem to know what they're doing when it comes to everyone's favourite black-mantled apparition. I also wouldn't mind them getting their mitts on the manga & novels, either. Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai (ADV/Geneon) -- Either of the two. Konomini seems to run more along the vein of Mahoromatic (Geneon license), but ADV's always been good with Gainax titles. Of course, Right Stuf handled KareKano fairly well, so I guess I could throw them in there. Maria-sama ga Miteru (Geneon) -- I think Geneon was a sponsor or somesuch, so there's that. But also, I just think they'd do the best job at bringing this series over. Don't ask me why, I just think they would. Madlax (ADV) -- So far, it appears to be the spiritual successor to Noir...not to mention it carries much of the exact same staff. Since ADV handled Noir so well, I'd say give them Madlax, too. Midori no Hibi (ADV/Bandai/Geneon) -- No clue with this one. It seems like something ADV would conceivably pick up, since they're good with the off-the-wall comedy series (Azumanga, Excel Saga, etc.). But I could just as easily see Bandai or Geneon picking it up. Naruto (FUNimation) -- FUNi may be good at handling tranquil shoujo titles like Furuba, but their forté is undoubtedly long-running shounen action titles. And Naruto? Quite possibly among the best of the best in that category. The chances are near zero they'd "butcher" it like many DBZ fanboys would claim, so why not? Tenjou Tenge (Geneon) -- Dunno why I picked Geneon. It just...seems like something they'd handle, not to mention they apparently helped produce it. Yami to Boushi to Hon to Tabibito (Geneon?) -- Yamibou's one I just can't figure out. It seems like something Geneon might pick up, but I could also see Viz or a lesser-known licensor grabbing it, as well. |

I totally forgot about Naruto! I would really like to see Naruto be liscenced by FUNimation as well. They did very well with YuYu Hakusho, but they might change a few things with Naruto. I hope they get it! |

Yeah, if FUNi got Naruto, they would put it on Adult Swim because heck... Detective Conan is on AS. rofl If there was an anime I would want licensed, I would want Gantz to be licensed by.. actually I could see Geneon getting Gantz. I would actually want the manga to be licensed more than anything but I see the anime getting licensed first before anything. |

Of course, if Cartoon Network still plans to eventually make Toonami a more older teen-oriented programming block, a run on there might not be too bad, either. |

One Piece I would like to see Geneon or ADV get this one. If ADV got it then they could give it everything it deserves. If Geneon got it...well they have the tendancy to release guides and stuff with the DVD and they could put it a character and episode guide.

Naruto, of course. It's gonna liscenced sonner or later, but I'm putting my money on Viz, since they already got the manga.
And I highly doubt it, but Sailor Stars. I know it would be edited to hell on tv, but who says it has to be on tv? There's are many anime shows that are not shown on tv here but are still released on dvd anyway. |

Naruto being handled by Funimation would be great in my eyes. In reality I just want this series to get dubbed so that I can start buying it already
I guess I kind of worry about One Piece being dubbed because I do not think that there is an american voice actor that could do justice to Luffy's voice, but then again I could easily be proved wrong. I was going to say E's Otherwise to go along with this, but then I saw that it got licensed by Funimation, so that makes me happy. Some others I would like to see get licensed are: Bakuretsu Tenshi: don't know why exactly but I'd like to see Geneon get their hands on this one. Hikaru no Go: Don't care who dubs it, I just want it to get dubbed Ragnarok the Animation: again i don't really care who dubs it That's all that I can think of at the moment, more though because pretty much everything else that I wanted to get dubbed has already been done or at least licensed. ~LoneWolf |

I'd like to see Iketeru Futari picked up by ADV or MediaWorks. ADV because they're reliable (and occasionally brilliant) and MediaWorks because I'm impressed by their work on 12 Kingdoms.... TRSI wouldn't be bad, either.

I'm sure no one is surprised by my answer:
The Mythical Detective Loki RAGNAROK ADV currently licensed half of the manga, and ADV has some sort of partnership with the publisher of MaLokiRAG, so I think they'd be the likely choice of buying it, which is fine by me. I want it to be either ADV or Genon because of how they package their stuff. |

FUNi does not have One Piece. They mentioned that at a con. http://animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=4404 |

Comedy
Jungle Wa Itsumo Halle Nochi Gu Jungle Wa Itsumo Halle Nochi Gu Deluxe These first two Gu series had me rolling on the floor crying with laughter. Original, irreverant and funny as hell Midori No Hibi Another clever and original title where as luckless guy awakes one morning to find his left hand has been replaced by a cute girl who is utterly smitten with him. Hilarity ensues. Kiko-chan Imagine an anime Peppermint Patty/Marci hybrid on crack and you'll be in the ballpark. Science Fiction/Giant Robot/etc. Fang of the Sun Dougram The classic poltical/mech drama by the creator of Votoms and Gasaraki. Tetsujin 28 (the new series) An update of the classic... There's also a new Yamato series I'm interested in but I'll reserve judgement till I see and episode or two. I also would love to see the first two Galaxy Express movies and the three Area 88 movies get a nice release. j[/b] |
