4Kids released their PR after the New York Licensing show -

They're retaining the name "Tokyo Mew Mew" (as opposed to Hollywood Mew Mew, the proposed name). I guess the fans banged on enough trashcans.

"Hollywood" Mew Mew would be appropriate if the series originally took place in Shinjuku.

somehow, given 4kids track record, the change was not made due to the fans of the show. 4kids do not care about us.

Of course not. Why would 4Kids care about a very small niche market more than the average cartoon-watching kid?

They couldn't figure out how to digitally edited out Tokyo Tower from the series without scrapping 90% of the episode.

As I recall, more than one show has renamed Tokyo Tower, or just turned it into a giant radio tower (which is, of course, one of the things it does, but...)

And it wouldn't particularly matter if it were in Hollywood or not; 99% of the viewing audience wouldn't know whether Hollywood had a giant red tower or not.

Especially since 99% of the viewers will be 9 - 12 years old and probably don't know that much about the world. Besides, most people in America do not expect cartoons to be accurate with things like that. Still, I am glad that 4Kids changed the name back; it at least lets the kids watching the show know where it comes from.

Just because they're using the original name doesn't mean it will be a good dub. Yu-gi-oh has it's original name but it's a bad dub.

I totally agree. Why the heck did they change Anzu's name to Tea?

Wouldn't it be funny if the series was renamed "Paris Mew Mew" and call the tower in the background the Eiffel Tower.

People at 4ke are such idiots that I wouldn't be surprised if they ever did do something like that, as sad as it is.
