I think that the OVA suffered from some pacing problems, which hopefully will be smoothed over with a full TV series. Though, I can't say I enjoyed the second season as much as the first, either. I'd totally enjoy a new season, but I hope the comedy's much more consistent this time around (maybe the cast's quirks have just gotten old in my mind, I dunno.)

Actually, this title is a perfect match for ADV. I hope that they are the ones to bring it over.

Historically, ADV has done by far the best job with series that require additional notes for them to make sense. And given the insane number of puns in Zetsubou Sensei, I'm not sure that it's even sane to attempt a dub (the insane number of explanatory notes required for a sub would be bad enough), so the fact that ADV hasn't been dubbing lately wouldn't even be a hindrance. I mean, a dub would be cool, but I doubt that it's reasonable in this case. So, as long as ADV gave it proper explanatory notes like they've done in past series such as Pani Poni Dash and Excel Saga, then they'd be a perfect candidate. I'd love it if ADV picked it up. They're the most likely to treat it properly and they can use all the help that they can get at this point.

Given how barebones Clannad was, I don't think they could even afford to make the notes anymore.

Quite possibly, but they've generally only done them for series that need them. I haven't seen Clannad, so I don't know if it really needs explanatory notes, but most series don't. Zetsubo Sensei, on the other hand, really does need them. So, they might choose to put them in in that case. Still, ADV is definitely not in good shape right now and I'm not sure that they really have the resources to license much of anything regardless of how they would treat it once licensed.

Clannad does have a handful of notes as necessary. But when they say Clannad is a barebones release, they really mean it. Even leaving aside the lack of a dub which is generally considered to be a standard feature for all anime releases, I don't recall a single DVD extra being included. Now considering the amount of work that would need to go into notes for Zetsubou Sensei, I think it's fair to doubt whether ADV could afford to do them, or at least properly.

Which is a shame, as ADV in their prime would have been perfect for this.

I heard that Clannad fans wanted ADV to release it as quick as possible, so they had to rush. If that's true, that I can see how it's bareboned. *glares at minor spelling mistakes*

Anyway, I'll be waiting for the third season. I wonder how things will be this time. SZS being released here would be wonderful. If there are dubs... Let's just hope that they use as many puns as the ones that they omit, because I'm pretty sure that some puns will be sliced off.

What this person said. I could do without a dub if I had to, but it would be nice to see the resurrection of ADV Notes. It may just be fuzzy memory, but ADV is the only company I can think of that has done comedy anime. Especially more unusual comedy like Cromartie and pretty much anything by Nabeshin. They just have to avoid a bidding war...

Oh sweet... the third season. It may get released here sooner or later since Del-Ray has just started to release the manga. Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei is the one series in which you want to be happy and die at the same time, lol.

Wow, three seasons. That's quite a feat there, with the manga still going strong as well. Now it's a question of whether or not they'll get one or the other over here in a timely manner.

This is unexpected good news. I didn't think there would be anymore as far as the anime goes after seeing the message at the end of the ova. Definitely would love for ADV to be the ones to license this, but I doubt they will be if it ever gets picked up over here.

Awesome news.

And I concur with everyone else's sentiments that this series should be brought over. Anime catgrin
