There been a revitalization of old animes in recent times like Dragonball Kai with the series being redone in HD and cutting down fillers and such. Fullmetal Alchemist starting a new anime and a couple of years ago, Toei completed the final Saint Seiya Hades chapter. 2 years ago, there was the Kenshin PS2 game and Ultimate Jump for the DS. You think there is hope that Rurouni Kenshin will get the Dragonball Kai treatment or start with scratch like Fullmetal Alchemist. Redo the Tokyo and Kyoto arc like Kai and cut down the fillers and then the Jinchuu arc will finally be animated the way it mean't to be? I believe there is hope in a couple of years or our lifetime atleast.

It's not new enough like FMA nor nostalgic enough like DBZ. FMA remake will suceed because the original is still very popular and fresh in people's minds. DBZ remake will work because, hell, everybody's seen DBZ.

even if if there's no news or possiblity that it's going to happen. Any Kenshin fan can dream that it will happened someday. The Kenshin kazenban and the Buso renkin hopefully spark some interest or even the new Frankenstein manga that Watsuki is doing.

If not soon, I hoping somewhere in our lifetime. I like to be optismitic about it.

I certainly wouldn't be against it. I'd at least like decent quality video on the DVDs. The season sets out now are horrendous quality with all kinds of artifacts and the mastering is super weird.

I'd be super excited if they re-did this. As I love Kenshin based off the first season. (I got it when it was being offered for 40 bucks instead of the 80 that is wanted for Season 2 & 3.

The manga is even better!

Anyway, I would be all for this, although as other users have said, unfortunately it doesn't seem to likely.

The chances are extremely low to none. I think you asked this before, and it's just not going to happen. DBZ is a huge, gigantic, massive, etc show that's waaay more popular than Kenshin will ever hope to be. This is more of a way for Toei to just recycle the show and make more money since it's a sure fire thing. Kenshin isn't nearly the same thing and it's not nearly as old or dated in animation like DBZ.

As big a fan I am of the original series and the manga, I'd actually love to see the series redone with the more realistic style and serious tone of the movies. Unfortunately, the chances of this happening are close to zero. If the anime industry somehow picks up, and the interest in Rurouni Kenshin inexplicably rises, then maybe, but I don't really see either happening any time soon, so for now, they've got to stick to rebooting/rereleasing series that are basically guaranteed to sell on a large scale. But man, in my dreams, that show is fantastic!

Well, it been already done in the serious tone in the form of the seihousen and tsukeisen. I want to see the series how it would have been done with watsuki current rounded style. Especially in the Jinchuu arc.

Saint Seiya did recently got the Hades arc animated, that also brings some hope. But yeah, it's as nostaglic as DBZ, hopefully Kenshin will get a rivalization.

Unfortunately, for the Jinchuu arc, they have to find a new voice actor for Saitou snice Suzuki's death in 2007. He is truly one of the greats and no one can capture his Satiou so well like he can.

The best stand-in I can think of for Hirotaka Suzuoki is Ken Narita. His roles are usually about as stern and disciplined as what Suzuoki did, but he'd need to sound a lot more condescending to really get that Saitou vibe.

As for the series overall, I don't care which art/animation style they use, so long as they keep either Noriyuki Asakura or Taku Iwasaki as the composer. Both did stupendous jobs for their respective incarnations. It would just come down to the budget, I suppose. But with the manga completed, there shouldn't be a problem, so long as the screenplay people do adequate jobs to keep the story straight and the cinematographers put in some great camera work.

I'd never say it's impossible that some studio would want to try a remake, you just never know. I would be ecstatic to see a new, HD Kenshin some day, though.

I'd love to see that too! Kenshin is one of the few massive shonen shows that I like.

Maybe Gintama and Kenshin will make a movie together? Anime hyper

If only, if only. I'd love to see it done, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I rather enjoyed Kenshin, and it's one of the few series I still enjoy now that I did years ago. A remake with updates animation that actually finished would be awesome. As others have noted, the manga is completed, so there shouldn't be any problems in that field. Still...I don't know.

Kenshin OVA would be the only thing I'd go for remade. I think it's still my favorite OVA ever.

What? Then why remake it? I'm so done with remakes, do you really want to watch the same stuff over and over? I would think part of it's greatness is it's particular assembly; if you want to be entertained again then wouldn't you want to find something that did so in a different manner? (Or rather in a manner different to a greater degree?)

Isnt that what a remake kind of means?

I wouldnt want to see the first OVA redone. I would want to see the second one redone and the series redone in perhaps the same style as the OVA's. The problem is, that to remake the series would require alot of chopping and butchering of the origional content which spans over 95 episodes in it's origional state.

I'd say it would be pointless to remake the series from scratch since there are enough remakes that have been hashed out in recent years for titles like Kanon and Full Metal Alchemist.

On the other hand, I wouldn't have a problem seeing the Jinchuu arc finally be done in the serious style of the OAVs. Both the TV show and Seisounen failed to provide proper endings that fans expected out of the Rurouni Kenshin series. The TV show shifted into fillers after the conflict with spoiler[Shishio] and the Jinchuu arc's presence in Seisounen was minimum at best spoiler[since it was brief and only featured as a flashback.] The serious style of the OAVs must say something since Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen currently ranks as the top-rated anime amongst members of the ANN Forum and it has been that way for a number of years.

If that doesn't say something about the notoriety of Rurouni Kenshin, I don't know what does. Confused
