Might some kind company be placing these films on DVD for the general R1 market? I love the 20th Century Boys manga and would love to own the movies on DVD. They really look like a huge undertaking in Japanese cinema, given the huge cast and large scope of story.

First two? The second one just only got released. I'm betting they're trying to gauge demand for 'em. Should just cash in on Know1ng, since Know1ng's doing the same to them. Wink

You people in the northeast are so silly.

I mean, seriously. Philly is only 100 or so miles away from New York and you want them to go to New York?

I make treks to Dallas, Austin, and sometimes El Paso which are distances much greater than 100 miles.

Is everyone in northeast as scared to hop on the interstate and just go to Philly? I wonder...

Wait, there's actually a screening of something in Philly? *squee!* I think I may have to venture downtown to see these. Very Happy

This was my exact same reaction. I am shocked but very pleased that Philadelphia actually gets something cool like this. Smile

Kinda hard when a 'car' is that thing you pay like a hundred bucks a day to rent. I mean, yeah, Philly is a two-hour train or bus ride away, but two hours/another city just for a movie is a bit excessive. Hell, for many people out here, forty minutes on the subway is too much and a major adventure.

Funny...I though a "car" was something one paid several thousand dollars to own for 10+ years and use every day. Razz

It's great to see something like this happening in my general area, though I don't really have any personal interest in seeing these films.

Many of the people in the Northeast know that unlike most Americans, a lot of New Yorkers don't need to bother with owning cars.
However, other people might be able to make it, esp. if they car pool, for a reasonable price. (Just a suggestion.) But I think they'll probably show in New York one of these days.

Anyhow, yay, for Philly, my hometown!
But why haven't I ever heard of Cinefest? Is that a new festival or a renamed old festival?

It is true that in Texas if you want to go from one city to the next you have to travel a ridiculous distance.
Much farther than New York is to Pennisylvania.
But also there's a whole bunch of toll roads which
can add up over time. So it's not just about the actual distance.
Also like the other person said some people in New York (I don't live in New York) don't bother to own a car probably because
it's really just not worth it. I mean isn't parking almost anywhere in New York incredibly expensive? Plus I'm sure getting anywhere is just as much a hassle since New York probably has a higher population density than Texas does.

Ah, I see. So basically there's a tradeoff between the gallons of gas I pay for and the stretch of toll roads for a hundred miles.

That makes more sense then.

Still though, if I lived 100 miles away from Philly, I'd drive there in a heartbeat to see the first 20th CB movie.

However, I'm more like 1500 miles away, which is just a tad too far =|

Not everyone has the time or money to go through a adventure like that. Sounds like more of a hassle than what it's worth.
