Does anybody notice how some anime has couples that have a big age difference. In Yu-gi-oh, for example, joey is 16 and Mai is 24. They're 8 years apart. Also, in tenchi gxp, seina has two love interests who are in their 20's. FlCl also has Naota with Haruko and Mamimi who are a lot older than him. The weirdest is definately in CLAMP Detectives, the guys are all 5th graders while their girlfriends are kindergardeners. What do you guys think?

I'd say standard Japanese Lolita fare, but that doesn't really apply in the Yuugioh case. The FLCL I'm willing to call infatuation....

I don't recall very well, but wasn't there a fair difference in age between the main couple in Maison Ikkoku?

Only two years... not enough of a difference to really qualify as an age gap.
Perhaps with Onegai Teacher? Even with Kei's... "condition", Mizuho is still at least 4-5 years older than he is. |

Hmmm Inuyasha is quite old and then he was sealed to a tree for 50 years and Kagome is about 15-14 if I remember correctly...then we have good old Kikyou who died in her early teens to 20's approx and then is revived....my head hurts after doing all the math. I'm not sure if Sesshoumaru(approx age 70+ years) and Kagura(a couple of months old) both like each other but those are much more older than each other and then we have Rin and Sesshoumaru. So many love triangles there probably more and I could go on but I stop here...

I still say Saikano looks like a 11 year old and a 45 year old rather than two teens.
As for age gaps, Tenchi has several characters that are thousands of years old. Heck Washuu is 20,000, and Sasami is 600. |

Onegai Teacher for sure. She's like in mid or late 20's while he's 18 or so

Eh, Mizuho Kazami (風見 みずほ) "appears" to be 23, while Kei Kusanagi (草薙 桂) is 18, according to the official site. |

But we can't really know Mizuho's true age since she isn't actually human.

Unless I'm mistaken, spoiler[Nagi Kirima & Shinpei Kuroda] from Boogiepop Phantom could be considered a couple with a noticeable age difference. spoiler[Nagi was a high school student (junior high?) when she met Kuroda, who appears to be in his upper 20s/lower 30s. Potentially a 10+ year age difference there.]

Also there is one in Jungle noch Guu once you do the math and figure how old Weda was when she had Hale. She was 14 when her doctor made her pregnant, and that suggests a possible age difference of at least ten years, more likely 15.
There is also the hair dresser and the bank robber. The difference there seems to be about 30 years or so. And that one teacher who like Hale and was in her 20's. That show is twisted. |

Actually, she's half human. And given that she's got a younger sister and the race her mother is from appears to carry human traits, I'd wager it's safe to say that the official site is correct.

Harold(16) and Maude(80),wait a minuite...
Metropolis - Kenichi I would geuss is about 10 and Tima is few days old. I havn't watched it but am I right in thinking that in Voices of a Distant Star the guy left on earth grows old while the girl remains young because of the whole light speed,gunbuster,mind boggling sceince thingy. |
