I guess this is true...in 3 days, Tsubasa went empty at my local Waldenbooks. Borders ran out of their copies a few days ago. |

My friend works in a book store which sells del ray manga (they just started selling manga there) and i picked up xxxholic and my bro got gundam seed. I'm also going to pick up tsubasa soon. I'm very pleased with they're debutes and hopefully they'll license some more titles.

That's shows how well known CLAMP is starting to be here now. I hope with it being such a sucess, Del Rey will consider releasing the hardback editions.

Even if they don't start selling the hardcovers, there is one thing I'm really enjoying... the color pages like you see in the Japanese versions.

Negima didn't have color pages...
But it was nice that I could rip the "mature audiences" sticker off the cover. |

I still need to buy Negima. But it seemed the most in stock at my Borders bookstore, so I got the others. I thought it was funny how it was wrapped in plastic with a gigantic Mature sticker on it. I mean, Love Hina never got those, but they never really needed it.
Is Negima THAT riskay for such a sticker? And poop for no Negima color pages |

Hmm... it's true that there were no color pages for Negima, but the Clamp titles did have them. Anybody know if the original Negima vol 1 in Japan had color pages at all?

I don't know about this, but the original CLAMP volumes did have color pages, and extra pages of manga that didn't show up in the magazine release. The new trend in manga volumes in Japan now seems to be having the color pages. How old is Negima? Both Negima and Tsubasa are shonen weekly manga, so I'd assume they'd get the same treatment from their publisher... but then CLAMP could be getting extra treatment. |

From what I've read, Negima is only about a year old....
As far as the CLAMP situation goes, I thought they might indeed be getting the royal treatment but I don't have anything to prove that beyond speculation. |

I never read Love Hina, but did it ever have moneys dancing on a naked girl... and other things? http://www.jpqueen.com/onlineshop/productinfo.asp?PID=38198 The few chapters I have in my shonen weekly with Tsubasa have quite a bit of nudity to them. I'm just going to throw in here that Negima and Tsubasa are published in Shonen Weekly with RAVE, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Getbackers, and a lot of other no-name fanservice and sports manga *Tsubasa REALLY dosen't look like it fits in the magazine*. I stopped my subscription once Tsubasa started to come out in takubon form. The few shonen weekly volumes I have didn't have any Negami color pictures, otherwise I'd scan them for you guys. Shonen Weekly tends to only have 2 manga a week with a color page or two. Tsubasa got a color page whenever it was the first chapter of a new tankubon. Also, for the takubon release CLAMP added a few color pages. |

Hmm.... knowing that Tsubasa later will have nudity makes me wonder if they will either edit a'la Tokyopop like they did with Initial D or keep it intact and shrinkwrap the future volumes.
Just a P.S. I still think editing (censoring) manga artwork is a bad choice IMNSHO |

I got all 4 1st volumes... I love them... oh yea, one other thing, about the Tokyopop mention, didn't they edit Love Hina?

nope, no edits were done graphically to Love Hina at all...
There was some quesitonable translation work done IMO, but otherwise, it stayed intact. |

Yep; I just pulled out my copy of the tankubon- the contents page, the pages of Negi's school and the Mahora badge are colour.
Yeah. Loads of bare flesh, but discretely covered. Also Negi finds himself in several compromising positions. Fan service at Love Hina levels. Widya Santoso |

Actually, being a rabid Akamatsu supporter, I'd like to correct that. Negima has fanservice beyond levels of Love Hina. The covering is not as discrete as LH, more exactly more exposure than LH.
And the page behind the contents (facing the cover) is colour too (duh) and it's Asuna with Negi. There's also two pages of Mahora with the whole 2-A class. More exactly Negi is about 10 months old by the date of this post. |
