Why would they announce the staff of a show that's already aired?

I'm guessing there going to do a Re-run of haruhi and then do a seconded season follow up right after. Its a logical decision.

It's called REMIX!! But honestly speaking, they're probably doing this to hype everybody up so that we can be looking forward to Haruhi season 2. Think of it as Blizzard and their trying to put out Starcraft 2. They announced it in 2007 and we still haven't seen it coming out yet, but they've been putting out new content for the game since they announced it, so we all know that it's being worked on.

I suppose it generates some hype for the next season by highlighting the new personnel, although it seems rather odd to attach them to the original.
Of course, the most notable change (besides the addition of Yasuhiro Takemoto, who took over directorial duties on Lucky Star and will handle the second season of Haruhi) is the replacement of Yutaka Yamamoto's name with that of his successor, Futoshi Nishiya.

That's standard Blizzard though. They don't release anything until it's up to their standards, and cut projects that fall short; it's why they don't even give tentative release dates anymore, because even they don't really know.
I've never heard of this being done for an anime before.

And they can always bring on Yamakan as a freelancer for the OP/ED.

So that makes Starcraft: Ghost roughly equivalent to an FMP sequel, right?

It'd be awesome if they aired the episodes in chronological order this time.

That's a bit more of a stretch now, what with Blizzard being overlooked by Activision nowadays...
I don't think they're to blame for all of the problems, but without a doubt they're responsible for changes concerning release date's getting pushed up. I can bet, had Activision not been involved, WotLK would've come out last/this month.
ALL OF THAT ASIDE, this is all extremely amusing to me. You Haruhi fans are suffering a lot, I'm glad they don't torture Key fans like this.
*still crossing fingers for Little Busters! for fall 09*

If the new season of Haruhi is going to be called the "Dissapearance of Suzumiya Haruhi" then surely they'll make the planned re-run "dissapear" and be replaced with this new, Haruhi O<>O?
Seems like the most logical thing to me considering the other viral aspects of their advertising campaign?
