Anime Expo 2009
July 2-5, 2000 Los Angeles Convention Center Website yes. i realize that i am early, but i wanted to go ahead and post a new topic for those who've decided to attend. Some Questions: 1. Is this your first time attending Anime Expo? 2. Will you being going by yourself or with others? 3. How will you get there? 4. Will you participate in events like cosplay, panels, contests, etc? 5. What are you looking foward to? 6. What are you not looking forward to? 7. What made you decide to attend THIS particular convention? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ here are my answers: 1. this WILL be my first time attending Anime Expo 2. i will be going with my sister and a friend. 3. hmm...i think we'll be taking the plane to LA because i hate driving long distances and am disgusted by LA traffic. 4. oh definitely. yes. we will cosplay ^^;; and i will definitely check out everything, or try to at least. 5. hehehe. i am looking forward to all the guest events - music, seiyuu, and mangaka. *grins* 6. i am not looking forward to mega, stinky crowds ^^;; 7. i have ALWAYS wanted to attend the biggest anime convention in the US and to see what it's like. this particular one is the perfect timeing for me since i will have graduated from school. sadly, it would've been better had it been hosted in Anaheim. bleh. i am hoping and looking foward to awesome guests! i was very sad that i missed out on CLAMP, seki toshihiko and seki tomakazu =_= |

No 2. Will you being going by yourself or with others? I have friends who will going with me. 3. How will you get there? By train or bus. 4. Will you participate in events like cosplay, panels, contests, etc? Maybe Gundam Model contest, or Cosplay 5. What are you looking foward to? New exhibitors, New cosplays, More Security. 7. What made you decide to attend THIS particular convention? I doing nothing during Summer. |

1. Is this your first time attending Anime Expo?
No. This will be my fourth Anime Expo. 2. Will you being going by yourself or with others? Friends, it's just which friends to go with. 3. How will you get there? Car. 4. Will you participate in events like cosplay, panels, contests, etc? Not events themselves, but I do plan on cosplaying for this AX. 5. What are you looking foward to? Probably the usual, such as the ANN panel, and whatever else interesting that comes up. 6. What are you not looking forward to? Inuyasha and Naruto brigades. And the really creepy American otaku types. 7. What made you decide to attend THIS particular convention? Since it's going to be back at LA, I said to myself why not. LA was a hell of a lot better than Long Beach, and given the size of what AX has become, I'm not surprised at the choice of venue. I had been worried right after Long Beach ended whether they really would be able to pull AX 2008 off, but sure enough they did, and I was really happy that I went. And I look forward to going next year as well. |

1. Is this your first time attending Anime Expo?
Yes. I have attended other conventions before, but not AX. 2. Will you being going by yourself or with others? I'll be going with maybe 1 or 2 friends. 3. How will you get there? Drive down California. It's about a 6 hour drive, not too bad. 4. Will you participate in events like cosplay, panels, contests, etc? I usually attend cons for panels and guests, so I'll be participating in those. Dealer's Room and Artist Alley are also really nice and I roam those quite often. 5. What are you looking foward to? A strong guest lineup. Any seiyuu that interests me would be nice. Maybe manga-ka too, and directors. 6. What are you not looking forward to? Long lines, and anything that is a repeat of AX 07 of which I heard all the disaster stories. 7. What made you decide to attend THIS particular convention? Nothing much, really. I figured that since my summer is freed up next year I might as well attend AX since I've never gone before. And the stigma from AX 08 was largely positive, so I can probably expect a con that at least isn't terribly run. |

No, I've been going since 2004, so this will be my sixth year. 2. Will you being going by yourself or with others? It depends. Some events I go to with other people and other ones I go to alone. I mostly seem to go to the concerts with a few anime fans I know around the area. I'm usually alone at the panels though. In the dealer's room could go either way... 3. How will you get there? I'm in driving distance of the LA convention center (about 30-45 min.). So I drive. 4. Will you participate in events like cosplay, panels, contests, etc? I don't personally cosplay, but I really enjoy seeing other people doing it. I go to most of the major panels, although I'm not part of any of them. Contests, kind of. I don't go out of my way to go to them, but I've won quite a few things from panels and even free tickets for AX 2008. 5. What are you looking foward to? Not sure. Most likely concerts, but that really depends on who's coming. 2008 didn't really interest me that much. Other than that, I seem to always enjoy all the events I go to. 6. What are you not looking forward to? Long lines for concerts and autographs. The only somewhat bad line last time was the Shoko-tan one for me (because it was outside... in the blazing sun). But even compared to the other years it wasn't that bad at all in comparison. If there's long lines for badges then that also. But it seemed to go very well last year, so I don't think it will be a problem if they run it the same way again. 7. What made you decide to attend THIS particular convention? Because I go every year, kind of a tradition now. And I still have enjoyed it every year. I even had a blast last year even though I wasn't expecting it. |

So, I'm wondering as to why they haven't even put registration up yet. Are they having technical difficulties or what? It's the end of January and they didn't even have pre-2009 registration deals. Now we'll be getting into February and nobody is able to register yet except industry and press. General attendees so far is still out.

I was also wondering that to.
they have nothing up on their site or registration..or even who the guests are. my other convention I go to NDK had their guests up many months in advance! |

I'm probably going to expo this year, if money permits.

I'm looking into cosplaying Saya. Other than that I don't really know yet since nothing's posted. 5. What are you looking foward to? the whole experience, since I've never been. 6. What are you not looking forward to? Driving in L.A. 7. What made you decide to attend THIS particular convention? My friends have gone before and had a lot of fun. I just got into anime over the past year or so, anyway. Last year would have been better, since David Hayter was there, but oh well. |

No its my 3rd year 2. Will you being going by yourself or with others? Myself 3. How will you get there? My semi and a rental car 4. Will you participate in events like cosplay, panels, contests, etc? yes i cosplay,i like the panels when people dont complain the whole time 5. What are you looking foward to? working the con allcon volenteer or staff if they ever get back to me,more rental car abuse 6. What are you not looking forward to? driving from the fontana terminal 1:45min there and back every day in a rental spending $150 over 5 days for parking 7. What made you decide to attend THIS particular convention? one of the biggest for the most part people have a good attitude at ax been to some smaller ones and there very rude towards others also its a good excuse to stop in little tokyo at anime jungle |

No, attended last year but only the first day 2. Will you being going by yourself or with others? Hopefully get a group of people to do, it is not fun by yourself 3. How will you get there? Flying down from Portland 4. Will you participate in events like cosplay, panels, contests, etc? Cosplay maybe, I have never done it and been wanting to 5. What are you looking foward to? Buying all those mystery bags muwhahah :p 6. What are you not looking forward to? The expensive cheap food and the heat 7. What made you decide to attend THIS particular convention? Been wanting to go for like 8 years and I finally went last year and it was amazing. Even though I felt a lil old at the age of 22, it was still fun. |

Dont feel old im 24 there are lots of people there older than 30 yes it can be "odd" at first with all the younger people there but when you realize were all there for the same reason that "odd" feeling goes away but then again I wear anime t-shirts in truckstops so im used to that "why is everybody staring at me" feeling |

No. This will be my 14th AX. 2. Will you being going by yourself or with others? Going to AX by myself but will be staying with friends. 3. How will you get there? Taking the MetroRail. 4. Will you participate in events like cosplay, panels, contests, etc? Panels & workshops mostly. I don't cosplay. 5. What are you looking foward to? Taking a break from work. AX is my yearly vacation. 6. What are you not looking forward to? The dumb side of fandom. You know what I'm talking about. 7. What made you decide to attend THIS particular convention? I've been going for 13 years, might as well go for one more. |

Registration for general attendees is up! Make sure to start registering as soon as possible so you won't have to pay so much when you actually go there for your ticket.
