This cracked me up, not only because of the clever wording, but because of how true it is. |

I first watched One Piece when it debuted on Saturday mornings with 4kids infamous dub (even if it was Toei who approved of all the edits) and all voice/editing aside, I was never really a fan. The feeling remains the same however Funi's version is fun and well done, I can understand why fans love OP so much (I myself am a fan of Chopper and Nico)... but the biggest smile comes from the news that the original creator approved of Funi's work.

Yeah, if Oda approves of this dub, then you can't have much go wrong with it.

I thought Edward Elric did a good job with the OPs. The EDs aren't great, but they could be worse.

I generally prefer OPs/EDs in their original form, but I've made an exception with One Piece's dub, they've done a fantastic job. Hopefully they can do something impressive with the 2nd opening as that was one of my least favorites music-wise.

This is how I feel about the series as a whole. |

I'll holding off this set for a while, but I will pick it up eventually.
These episodes are good, but I didn't get hooked until spoiler[Luffy and his crew arrive at the Grand Line] (the specific scene is mentioned here at the end of my post). I hope that starting with the release of the 4th set we get these sets at a quicker pace. And I like the FUNimation opening/ending dubbed songs. I'll be waiting for the first opening song sung by Straw Hats dubbed, though that's quite a ways off. If only Viz were to release the manga faster. It's kinda sad that almost in a year and a half to 2 years, FUNi could release what took Viz 5 years. |

Wanna know why One Piece "isn't revolutionary, insightful, or even particularly smart or original" and "just massive fun"? Because it's a kid's show!!!
I know, a lot of people don't believe this, but I've had several Japanese people confirm this for me. It's aimed at the 14-and-under crowd. Not that there's anything wrong with that, you can love a show that's meant for younger kids (I enjoyed it early on, I'll admit), but don't try to pretend this is super mature or anything. Anyhoo, I eventually got bored with it when it started to draaaag, a problem in a lot of long-running series (and why I have stopped watching most of them). Fortunately this section is before that happening, and I remember it fondly. |

Of course it is. And that's yet another reason why I love it. |

Like I said, I'm not bashing that... I loved "Powerpuff Girls" and "The Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy," too. |

In fairness, its target audience is about the same age as that of the huge majority of TV anime. The difference is that One Piece KNOWS it's a kids show, and chooses to embrace and have fun with this fact, while so many of its contemporaries chose to descend into pretentious whininess (keep in mind that this show made its debut during the heyday of Evangelion-style "serious" action shows.) |

The fun and adventure they have in One Piece, stomps just about anything you put in front of it.Yeah,it's that ****ing good.To those who dismiss it as a kids show, you obviously haven't seen enough of it to understand (Or were burned by the 4Kids Dub,and that's understandable). But hey, live in your small, shallow world.More One Piece for me!We aren't yanking your chain for no reason,One Piece is great. I stopped about a year ago.I'm on ep 202,right before it goes HD,and I'm still loving every minute of it.Follow the manga, follow the subs,Buy the fantastic box sets(Seasons 1-1,1-2 and Movie 8.Thanks Funi). It's a happy kaizoku world. One Piece! |

Yeah, but Evangelion wasn't a kids' show, and it was aimed at an older audience... you know what? Let's not argue. One Piece is fun, and just because (at age 24) I've sort of outgrown it doesn't make it any less so. Might add, absently, that the amount of porn fanfiction written for this series does seriously creep me out, given its demographic. *shudder* |

For a shows that drags, I find One Piece to be a fairly paced Shounen series. Even considering how long the story is. I also love how the directors handle the filler by usually adding it at the end of every major story arc so that won't interrupt in the middle of an arc. Something that Studio Pierrot (Naruto, Bleach) really needs to learn. |
