This may not be good news, now that I see others have the same problem as mine on AnimeOnDvd forum. So want to spread the word for people planning to buy it.
There IS skipping on my Vol.3 disc 2, at the 28 min~ mark, in Episode 25. The skipping happens at the exact spot everytime, and last(skip) for close to a minute of content, then back to normal. However, when I play it with my PS3, the skip is gone. So I do think the disc is defective (even though I just exchanged my copy, thinking it was just my copy before I saw this thread). But with some DVD players, you won't see the skip.

It seems like Bandai is just having really bad issues with most of their discs lately. We've also seen problems in Code Geass, were there any in GL volume 2?

GL Vol.1 & 2 all seems fine. I got no issues with them. Only Vol.3 disc 2.

I'm now really doubting that I'll ever buy a DVD from Bandai if this keeps up.

Bandai DVD's just don't work right (sometimes at all) in certain players. I've heard it may be their anti-piracy code or something along those lines. Whatever it is, they need to fix this and quickly.

I'm probably going to risk it because of the mixed "Its bugged for me" "Its not bugged for me" comments. Seem like okay odds to me.

I had problems with one of the discs in the Planetes collection that I purchased earlier this year and had to return it.
I also had a problem with one of the discs in the Witch Hunter Robin collection that I bought a couple of months ago. The picture was jumping so I tried playing it in another DVD player and it was okay so I kept it.

On the contrary here... i have problems with my The Galaxy Railways set. It's strange though. What it does is that it plays the 1st episode on every disk. Then at about 18 minutes through the episode, it starts to skip rather intensely. Then it doesn't play the rest of the episodes on each disk; as if they're not even on the disk. It sort of seems like they're not even on the disks. It's rather strange too becuase when timing it, i see that it happens perciesly at the exact same point, the skipping starts at the exact same point. Then the rest of the episodes dont' play on the disk. So i don't know if it's just random crappy luck in my case, or perhaps there is somethin' goin' on.

I see, so that's why I haven't received my copy from Right Stuff yet. I've been wondering what the hold up was. I guess they are waiting for a new shipment of copies to come in. I hope I don't have to wait too long for my pre-order to be filled.

Wow, were the last two volumes released at the same time? My problem with this release is the laziness with subtitling songs.

My old PS2 seems to have trouble with some DVDs. It's recently given me 'unable to read disc' errors on two Gurren Lagann discs (vol.1 disc 2 and vol. 2 disc 2), and one Mushi-shi (vol. 5 or 6, I forgot).
I'm thinking the problem is the PS2 though, the discs play fine on my computer. I'd previously used a lens cleaner on PS2, which cured the skip on GL vol.1 disc 2, but now it's stopping on vol. 2 disc 2 at the eyecatch break in episode 17. Annoying.

I had problems with one of the first two Gurren Lagann discs- I don't remember for sure which one. I think it was the first one. Either way, I had to exchange it. I guess I better go watch the last two so I can send them back if I have to. Blah.
Edit: Sure enough, disc 5 is defective, won't play in any of the five devices in the house that play dvds. Like, won't even get past the fricken menu. It's weird, too, when you put it in, the whole player vibrates like it's out of balance or something.
Bah, bah.

Just burned my way through Vol.3 over two nights. No issues at all. No skips, no errors of any sort.

The issue is not the episode episode itself nor the series. Problem is the disc that is being distributed and sold at stores and markets. Therefore, you won't find the the error by burning it because it is not the same discs that people buy from shelves.

We used to say burned(as in "go through quickly") back in the day.Now a days the term burn is far too commonplace in the internet societies way of life.
Adventure used the term I "burned" through that RPG in eighteen hours. That's a pretty short game. You burned through it too quickly, not "you used 16x,you burned through it too quickly".
If you want to hate me for something, hate me for burning all 27 eps of Gurren Lagann on to ONE DVD,and having it play flawlessly in my .mkv player,on my HDTV.
