Awesome. I'm sure that if it's made by the same two people who made Death Note, the I bet it's sure to be a huge cash co-err....very successful manga that Viz will soon get the license to and make it a huge success.

I hope people don't complain that this new series is nothing like Death Note.

I'm going to go into this expecting something completely different from Death Note. I don't think I'd be able to judge it fairly otherwise.

This is Great news! To me, the manga version of Death Note is epic. I can't wait until this manga debuts here in the US. And of course I don't expect Bakuman to be similar to the plot of Death Note, but I do expect a quality manga filled with action and suspense [possibly comedy as well]. Those authors are highly skilled, so I'm pretty sure that Bakuman won't fail to please, regardless of what kind of story/concept they have formulated.

This is very interesting and exciting.
By the way, this is the first that I've heard of this Death Note one-shot that came out earlier this year. Was it any good? Will Viz ever release it in North America? |

I know, right? There are probably going to be countless morons complaining about,"This Bakuman sucks! it ain't like Death note! Where's L?" lol. All in all,it should be pretty good though. I can honestly say that I can't wait. |

I'll be disappointed if it is like Death Note. I much rather see them do something completely unlike Death Note. Obata will be great as always, it's Ohba who has something to prove (that he's not just a one hit wonder). Many Jump mangakas that have an extremely popular series often don't recreate that success with their next series, but hopefully Ohba will be able to create another good story. |

Well, we'll have to see how they plan to capitalize on the success of Death Note, since this is the team that brought it to us. It's a matter of whether or not they can give us something that could maybe look at surpassing the success and story of Death Note.

Since Death Note had some inconsistent writing quality they can only do better this time. Really, Death Note was great in building up tension but it also was very disappointing sometimes when they solved problems in the series in a cheap way (especially Near was more a random clairvoyant than a logical genius detective). And let's hope, they don't rip off again some old manga |

Sounds good. I want to see what this team can come up with next.

I wouldn't expect something like Death Note, mainly because these two guys are incredibly talented and very much interested in showing some versatility at this point. As some of you mentioned, this is probably going to become an instant hit. Not that I mind, I am expecting something good. Can anyone tell me more about the plot? |

I have to agree. I don't want it to be anything like Death Note. I want something completely new. I don't normally wish for a series to go on forever and ever, I want them to tell their story and then tell me a new one!

Ohba's gender has never been identified. There was a fan translation that picked a gender at random, but prevailing theories suggest Ohba is a pen name for Hiroshi Gamo. |
