Popularity from the movie has been able to keep Boys over Flowers in the top 3 at least, but I'm not surprised that titles such as Bleach and Gintama would take the top spots.

Sex sells. Just look at Nell on the cover of Bleach volume 34. U think they would sell as many volumes if Nell wasn't on the cover?

. . . probably, yeah. Bleach is a very popular long-running series. The cover could have a glass of pink lemonade on it and the volume would sell well. Besides, the 34th volume of a series is usually way to late to get involved in it, no matter how hot a babe they put on the front. :B |

Although look at the sex appeal between Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece. These are all Shonen Jump's top selling series currently, yet to me I've seen that One Piece hasn't had to use that sex appeal as much as I've seen it for Bleach.

Hunter x Hunter's sales are about on par with Naruto and Bleach's and it has very little fanservice.

Naruto using fanservice on the front covers? Since when?
 I don't think I've ever seen a single Naruto cover that uses fanservice in it.... Or at least not NEARLY that bad anyways.
But nah, as much as it does bug me, and as little as I'm wanting to buy that volume 34 now....... Bleach is already a big selling title without the fanservice, so it has nothing to do with that. I mean just look at how many volumes of the series that have sold well in the past that don't have anything suggestive on it. |

Not to mention there is much "worse" fanservice out there compared to the covers of these volumes lol.

There was a cover with Tsunade sama on it. But considering how old she is, I'm not sure if it could be called fanservice.. 
But that remark about "sex sells" is dumb in case of Bleach anyway because everyone in Japan knows what Bleach is, I guess.. |
