Well the notion that they've found a replacement for Sojitz is good news.

Well if ADV do carry on i find it a waste of time i for one will never go back to them after the whole Newtype/PIQ fiasco and not giving the 15000 subscribers a refund this and John Ledford blaming fansubs only for 2 months later to put NHK on crunchroll which made him look an idiot.

How is blaming fansubs and putting it on Crunchyroll necessarily inconsistent? ADV at the very least probably got some revenue from it.

And we don't know what will happen to people's subscriptions to PiQ yet.

What im getting at is why did he blame fansubs then put NHK on fansubs???

Do i go out and blame some1 who i dunno broke my car window only to then give them a pat on the back 2 months later?

And as for PIQ magazine the news that was on there site about subscibers getting a refund or not has been taken off.

Well this is good news. I wasn't going to buy anymore ADV dvds until I heard positive news.

How does company putting dubbed episode for money on website = fansubbing, exactly? Does that mean all this putting Druaga and Strike Witches online by GONZO constitutes "fansubbing" as well?

And the analogy is more like GM blaming hybrid cars for causing a drop in sale, and then deciding to build hybrid cars themselves (still not perfect, but closer).

And the whole final post was probably taken off because it was rather unflattering of the company. I'm surprised it took that long for them to axe it.

Well yeah, one has to assume that losing almost all of your licenses from the past 2 years or so can't be a good thing.

Don't worry, they already were on the other thread.

But at least ADV has finally seemed to make a clean break from Sojitz/ARM. Obviously the deal didn't work out they way either one wanted.

I just wonder who ADV's new partner is. Regardless of who it is, I hope they negotiate a better contract then they did with Sojitz.

It sounds like good news, but I want to wait and see what titles ADV picks up and who the new partner is before I get too excited about this.

My image of ADV would improve dramatically if they would announce a new release date for Yotsuba&! vol. 6 and following. I know they're not picking up any new manga titles, but kick starting their current titles (again, in some cases) would do a lot to restore my confidence in them.

Well, we're going to have to wait until Otakon next month to find out. I'm pretty curious myself. Wink

All in all I'm just glad that we finally have a resolution to this whole ADV/Sojitz mess and that all these rumors about ADV's demise have proven (thankfully) to be false. This has turned out to be a very interesting and exciting convention with all of the annoucments and distrubution shifting going on. As John Sirabella pointed out on the AoD forum, we're definitely heading into a new era of R1 anime distribution.

You have to remember that many of these problems could very well be out of their control. I'm sure it has to be frustrating for them to want to do anything right about now and not be able to. I am glad they have found a new partner though as that will more then likely mean they are staying afloat but just have to rebound from the break with Sojitz. Hopefully they can come out of this stronger then before.

I don't see that most people are hating ADV for hating ADV's sake, though people seem to think so for some reason. We are angry they weren't able to fulfill their product releases. I think that is understandable.

I personally don't trust them at the moment, but I still plan to purchase series from them that I know have all volumes available (Ex: Pani Poni Dash.. which is apparently one of the series that switched to Funi, but they do have the dvds available for this online). I will not be purchasing volume by volume from them anytime soon.

Wow, thirty titles lost. While I'm no big fan of ADV (or Funi for that matter), that's harsh.

Knowing ADV, they'll pull through.
