Nice pickup from Gainax. The story of hunting down 108 corpses to get to heaven sounds interesting at first glance but we'll see what happens. Shikabane Hime has a tough act to follow in Gurren Lagann, but this one could be big.

It is one of the industry's best studios but I guess Shikabane Hime will be one of their make-money-fast-projects because neither the premise nor the staff sounds convincing (the director and writer aren't even Gainax-people). I hope they launch some interesting original project in 2009.

People liked Gurren because it was exciting. In fact, it was so exciting that people's excitement made them totally overlook the horrible plot, horrible pacing, horrible characters, horrible character designs, horrible mecha designs, and, with the exception of a few scenes, horrible animation.

I suppose the rest is opinion, but you can't expect me to take seriously your claim that Gurren Lagann had "horrible animation", do you? With the exception of episode 4, the show had excellent animation pretty much throughout.

They used to be a lot better. Back in the 90s, they were top of the game, but since Anno left, Tsurumaki's the best talent they've had, and he's only done two projects. I'll admit that Gurren Lagann was good, but that's only three projects in 9 years. It's a pathetic track record.
I'd like to see Aoki Uru finally materialize...but that seems like a pipe dream by now.

That episode didn't even have horrible animation it's just that the art and direction was different for that episode which many people did not like.

Yeah, I guess, but because of the way it was done, it appeared pretty choppy.

Who needs a convincing and logical argument beyond "show X is popular because people are stupid" when you can just add "LOL" to your post?
As for the actual show, there isn't enough information to really get excited about yet. If I were to guess I'd say it will be in the same vein as every other Gainax project since FLCL (wacky and campy), which might be a little redundant.

Look, with a name like "DigimonTamer", it's painfully obvious that you're a troll.
Anyway, still looking forward to the new project. Like jeromeskee said, this show's got a tough act to follow coming on the heels of TTGL.

Good golly, I was trying to get to ANN Forums' discussion of GAINAX's new project but for some reason the hyperlink seems to have led me to /a/! Honestly anonymous, won't you people ever give up those silly daily ITT: Why we hate Gurren Lagann threads?
That aside, I'm not so into this project since it seems like it'll be something along the vein of most of GAINAX's other manga adaptations; great fanservice and action but none of the real GAINAX meat that you see in their original productions. I could see this becoming another This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, or if they're lucky a Mahoromatic, but I'm not expecting it to be Eva or FLCL or anything. Of course, it looks like it's mostly new talent, so maybe it'll be something new and awesome (or awful)? That would be great.

So this is the project that they couldn't name at Fanime. I can't say I've heard of it.
I agree that it probably won't be anything ground breaking, but it should still be a fun romp, knowing Gainax. I'd still take them over Studios like Gonzo or Beetrain anyday
