Square said VII vanilla was developed with Japanese in minds, Remake and Rebirth had a global market in mind. Glad to see the Japanese still like these two games.

Metaphor winning best Music over Rebirth is just baffling. Look i like Metaphor's soundtrack but outside of the battle theme how much of that soundtrack do you really remember?

I really really absolutely agree with this. Just word for word. Rebirth's soundtrack... even though I expected something amazing, still blew me away. Metaphor's had like...3 good songs and 1 great song.
As a whole... I only got around to playing Rebirth when it came out to PC in January. And I honestly fully agree that it's GOTY 2024. Before I played it, during the American Game Awards thing my GOTY was GBF:Relink. I honestly don't think most of the games nominated deserved it. They were so "more of the same" of what was in their genre and did little to expand on what had been done before. They usually didn't even do BETTER to what was done before. I truly believe Astro Bot wouldn't have won any awards if it didn't have the PlayStation nostalgia factor. Rebirth, even for people new to FF7 and FF as a whole, is an absolutely fantastic game all around. Hands-down the best combat in any action-rpg and like mentioned, the best OST of the last few years

Not surprising FF7 won GOTY. I personally would have picked Metaphor though. I like turn-based combat more and it was an original game and not a remake.

Agreed, I'm on my second playthrough right now, it deserves the accolades its received and more. Though I'm not sure I understand the rookie award since it's still an Atlus release made by an Atlus division consisting largely of veteran Atlus staff.
