I wish them the best of luck in adapting it, it seems like they're planning to get someone who gets the material.

Fata Morgana has the potential to be something huge. It has one of the best-plotted stories that I've ever witnessed, but—it's a visual novel. This works in its favor as you can get the in-depth narrative of a novel with the added stimulus of audio-visual. On the other hand, a vast majority of people do not read, let alone something as niche and negative connotation heavy as visual novels. So, an adaptation is necessary for it to reach a wider audience, and like Steins;Gate, it has the type of story that lends itself well to different, more accessible mediums. I wish Novect the best in attempting to adapt this.

I have a hard time even picturing that but if it gets pulled off I could see it being amazing. That said I do feel like there are some parts toward the end the story would definitely benefit from sanding off, especially in regards to the Jacopo plot.

spoiler[I could also just see it being a hard series to cast, if only due to how you'd likely need a similar looking man and woman to both play Michel, the woman would likely also need to play Morgana, and Giselle would likely be hard to not give the game away on early with a real physical person playing the maid.]

While this is still clearly a long ways away from getting past the development stage (let alone being fully greenlit), I am very torn because I love this VN so much and would love more people getting additional avenues to experience it... but I just have a really hard time seeing a lot of aspects translating to a film medium smoothly. Particularly when it comes to its storytelling format - Fata Morgana feels SO tailored to the visual novel medium.

The short manga adaptation (which granted only covered roughly the first few doors) couldn't quite nail those narrative challenges that would come up in any non-VN Fata adaptation, and I don't exactly see a live-action series having an easier time with them than that.
