This is actually kind of insane. For those who don’t know, this manga was cancelled with only five volumes. The story never even properly wrapped up. I have no idea why this was chosen to receive an anime adaptation.

I reviewed all five volumes of Black Torch on my site, and was impressed by its story, action, and ways it avoids boring exposition. Hopefully this series will get a proper end since the manga didn’t. I always thought of it as the better version of BLEACH

And it ended seven years ago? That's wild, you never see cancelled manga get called up to the big leagues like this.
Honestly I hope this series does well, if only so maybe other good series that were cancelled before their time can get adaptations.
Maybe they'll bring in the original creator to give the story a proper ending for the anime?

We might be getting to the point where so much anime needs to get produced each year that they're digging into cancelled stuff lol

I really hope this airs on Toonami, maybe being a cancelled manga will be key to them getting it.

If so, then Psyren.

This looks cool!
I wonder if this is a chance for the creator to deliver a proper ending.

Holy $#?% man this is something I genuinely never saw coming. I remember reading like 20 chapters of this and then moving on after I got bored all the while thinking that it'd be nice if this series could get an adaptation but also thinking that it'll probably get cancelled sooner or later.
lo and behold that both happened lmao
still tho, I'm glad that this series is back, so glad in fact that I'm going to reread it

I've never heard of 100Studio before, so I'm not sure what to expect. Hopefully, this will be a successful adaptation.

Insane that this of all cancelled Jump manga is getting adapted. Where's my Psyren manga at?! I'd also love to see Stealth Symphony while we're at it.
100studio is only 4 years old, maybe they got the rights cheap and are doing this just to show their chops?
It's a bold strategy, let's see how it plays out.

I liked this manga too but calling it the better version of Bleach is crazy. That said, can't wait to see all the kiddies come in and accuse this manga of ripping off Chainsaw Man, that'll be a laugh.

This will be only their third series, and the second hasn't aired yet, so not much to go off of

I never thought in a million years I'd see an anime of this series. I remember enjoying the manga and especially the artwork, so it was a shame when it was axed so early. Like others have said, I hope this adaptation allows it to properly tell the story the creator wanted to share with the world.

I have never heard of this series like at all & I tend to follow shonen manga releases (I dont read them all but atleast heard of their existence). Its crazy to me that somehow this is getting an anime adaptation. They sure worked in strange & mysterious ways. Ditto on the Psyren adaptation. I think that series deserves it tbh.

Black Torch had pretty likable characters. It also had pacing issues, but when it's good, it's good.
I heard the author has been having health issues while working on Heart Gear. I hope this brings good tidings for him and properly finishes the story.
(I second Psyren. I hope some anime conglomerate adapts it some day.)

Oh, I actually really enjoyed Black Torch, mainly because the mangaka was really, really good at writing and paneling action sequences. The over-arching story itself was kind of middling, so it wasn't a huge surprise to me when it got axed, even as I was a bit disappointed, since it seems to have finally started to hit its stride as it went on. It's wild to see it getting an adaptation, but it'll really hinge on how well they can execute the action scenes. The early story is definitely not strong enough to stand on its own.
Interestingly enough, the mangaka's follow-up work Heart Gear had the opposite problem -- a really engaging opening with a super interesting plot that flags and ends up fizzling out towards a mediocre conclusion.
