IGN gave a more harsh review and to be fair I can see their point. I want to get back to exploring and learning more about the mysterious pokemon not spend time in high school. We have enough anime set in high school. Also I wish the dub kept the Japanese track. Seriously I never understood why the pokemon dub insists on replacing the superior Japanese ost with boring generic Western music.

So the music is the English dub is terrible compared to the Japanese version? I assumed that the dub isn't good at all because of this one problem. I think Westerns or Americans always get the inferior version of kids' anime like this.

I really wish there was some way to watch it with the English dub while keeping the original soundtrack.

The dub soundtrack is genuinely bad, but what makes it worse is the really weird placement.

Hot take. I don't think the music is that bad.

At this point the dub replacement music has been bad for like a decade, since XY. Until there's a complete change of guard it's not really going to get any better

To be honest, I never understood that, ever since children anime like Cardfight!! Vanguard, and even Digimon have subtitled release and they can still be watched online by kids today. I don't know why Nintendo and Pokemon Company USA still have this mentality of doing this practice when these same kids that are watching Pokemon are probably watching One Piece, Naruto, and My Hero Academia online and probably in subtitled format on streaming like Crunchyroll. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if any young girls that are watching Pokemon are probably Pretty Cure on CR too.
As I've said in the past, I don't know why Pokemon doesn't get with the time and just do simulcast subtitled episodes since a lot of anime including children anime can get simulcast release the same day it come out in Japan and USA. I mean look at all the anime being simulcasted or have gotten simulcast in the US (beside Pokemon Evolutions, no other Pokemon series has ever gotten any simulcast let alone a subtitled release when other children anime can get them).
So Nintendo and Pokemon Company USA, what the hell? Are you going to get with the time and follow suit? So My Hero Academia and One Piece can get both simulcast and subtitled releases, and young kids that are watching Pokemon are probably also watching them too, and yet Pokemon can't get a simulcast and subtitled release like One Piece and MHA get.
