I don’t see this going better than G4’s revival, especially without RWBY.

Well, they have a brand name. That's about it. RWBY is over at Viz although they still haven't confirmed their plans for the series (I smell a reboot!) and Warner still owns the other properties like gen:Lock (although that production was such a dumpster fire both in the actual product and behind the scenes, including accusations of embezzlment I can't see it having any value). Death Battle meanwhile spun off into its own production company. So I don't know what they hope to accomplish here.

I didn't even realize RvB wrapped up last year. That was a huge part of my early Internet life.

Actually if you look at the website it seems like Burnie also bought other properties like RvB and Camp Camp so Gen:Lock might also leave the WB Vault.

Yeah, you can buy a digital copy of the last season on Amazon's streaming service. Even some long-fired or long-gone employees came back for one last hurrah.

I have a lot of nostalgia for Rooster Teeth so I'd be happy to have them back even if I'm not sure what they can still accomplish as a company at this point.

Considering that most of their 'talent' ended up doing independent versions of their respective shows/podcasts/etc. it'll be interesting to see what the revival is going to entail.
Theoretically they could have the individual productions merge back under the RT umbrella in an attempt to resemble pre-closure Rooster Teeth. If anyone is even willing to anyways.
There are a lot of people they could try and "salvage" after WB. Both the on-screen faces and off-screen staff. Especially Gus and Geoff, being co-founders and all.

The main issue with get:Lock is that not only is the second season an absolute dumpster fire that flirts heavily with X-Play style xenophobia, it's got a cast way too expensive for this new Rooster Teeth to hire.

I just hope they treat their animators better this time but it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth that they shut down and everyone lost their jobs and now they're back after only a year.

It's a good question. If the stuff that Rooster Teeth on its own without the stuff that people care about might not mean much. Depending on what the plan for RWBY is, it might be worth approaching Viz to get involved as a partner of some kind.

I had to actually look up what exactly was xenophobic about gen lock because I never saw that come up on any critical discussions of the show, the fact they actually made an in universe cartoon just to straw man their hatred for anime and the mecha genre as a whole is wild.
