Michelle Molineux has to play Anne. I feel that way, because she played Honoka on Pretty Cure lol.

Hmm... Given the way this series has been promoted up to now, it's vaguely implied the series might focus on content from the first 3 books. But with only 24 episodes I can't quite picture this series depicting that much content while still letting certain events carry an appropriate amount of weight. (This is classic literature, and not a light novel, so I do think a lot more care would go into constructing an adaptation like this.)
I'm inclined to believe this might be planned for multiple seasons and these 24 episodes might just refer to a first season that will exclusively depict the tale of the first book, Anne of Green Gables. The first chapter of the manga adaptation that started this month is quite nice, so it gives me hope that the actual anime will know what it's doing.
Though I do kind of question choices like giving Gilbert such a reddish tint of brown for his hair color. Wouldn't that make Anne's childhood grudge come off as even more silly than it already does? Anime smile + sweatdrop Well, regardless I do think the designs are looking nice overall so far.

I am actually quite excited about the series, so I hope it turns out well. It'll be very tough living in the shadow of the World Masterpiece Theater adaptation from 1979, which I'm sure many old timers will be comparing this against, but I'm sure it'll find a way to stand on its own merits.

By the way, I hope GKIDS manages to license this show for streaming and home video. Literally what's even the point of them as a company if they don't go for a show like this? Anime hyper

Worth mentioning also the 2014 NHK Asadora series Hanako と Anne about Hanako Muraoka:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanako_to_Anne particularly since the soundtrack was composed by Yuki Kajiura.

It's only gonna have 24 episodes? I wonder how they'll be able to cover everything? Maybe they'll just cover the first book and if its popular, do other books with other seasons? The 1979 anime had 50 episodes and just covered the first book. I hope this doesn't result in a lot of cut content or pacing issues.

I'm willing to bet the 2-cour is just adapting the first book while we'll get future seasons covering the rest. If only because the initial announcement claimed they would cover Anne's entire coming-of-age-story and there's no way they can do that without rushing it.

But I'm looking forward to it!

If ever possible, I'd rather have Amybeth McNulty since she was Anne in Anne with an E.
