This was honestly maybe my favorite Blue Exorcist season yet. It’s true that the action animation is unfortunately weak, but I’ve never found the series action to be one of the better parts anyway. The story, especially Yukio’s plot, is a lot more engaging, and I’m excited to see the upcoming backstory in the next season.

I definitely think the production values took it up a notch compared to season 3 and they did a great job executing this season. It's like they finally found their groove in adapting Blue Exorcist.

I'm a pretty big BE fan, but I have to admit the Snow Saga arc was my least favourite so far. Don't get me wrong, I basically enjoyed it, just not to the level of past arcs. I think partly this was due to the focus on Yukio. He's always been by far my least favourite BE character and the way he acts in this arc just reinforced that feeling in me. That's why I'm so pleased that 3 episodes into Blue Night, I feel like the magic is back, big time.

Another strand involves Rin and Okamura traveling to Japan's snowy northern region

If you did not mean "Rin and Yukio" then you need to remind me who Okamura is. Smile The only Okamura associated with this franchise that I can think of is the first season's director Tensai Okamura. The characters' surname is Okumura.

I wasn't too bent about Shura's topless seduction scene. Her dailywear outfit (regardless of weather conditions) has always been so ridiculous I've just gotten used to it, and going topless in the snow kinda seemed inevitable.

Gina, thanks for pointing up the name slip, which I've amended.

Just in case we're thinking of different scenes, I was referring to the flashback where a younger Shura is dating one guy after another, and then tries to seduce Shiro in his office.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. It's been almost three months since I watched it and my memory sucks at the best of times. I thought "the least appropriate man around" was Yukio, pasting in my vague memory of the hypnotoad assault scene. Smile I think I also dimly remembered the quasi-tentacle rape part of the removal of her contract mark, which was all but topless. The main thing I clearly remembered was her going barefoot in the snow, which made me cold, which I am right now. Like a dream, it all runs together after awhile. Embarassed

After reviewing it, I think the office scene neither offended me nor stuck with me because in context of what we'd learned of her origin story, it was entirely in character for her to try to bribe a man with sex to get what she was desperate for, since for as long as she could remember she was only deemed important for her body.
