I particularly like blue-haired Meru Shirayama, top-tier oblivious wingwoman, who keeps getting the wrong idea about Aki and Hikaru's relationship.

Curious if Meru is going to be like that girl from Eve's Anoko Secret MV lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgdPlDG1-8k

A bit disappointed he didn't return for the anime

I feel we've missed some connective tissue here.

No kidding. I actually went back to check that I hadn't missed watching an episode, the way they just dropped us into a mission displaying Hikaru's new powerz and new characters it seemed like we were supposed to already know.

Same! I didn't know whether that was the case or my memory was just getting that bad.

I hope they'll change the routine of "Aki keeps jobbing every episode while Hikaru keeps one punching every enemy" soon.

Yeah, I don't love that.

"...clever, economical storytelling" got me confused. I needed to rewatch the episode. I think when the season is over, I need to rewatch the whole series.
It might be my fault, getting distracted by normal life, but it's one more reason I prefer Netflix's "binge" style of streaming.

Quen complains that his Kagami Group equivalent is ripping off his character design.

I'd say Quen is ripping off Takuya's design from 365 Days to the Wedding, although the latter's hair is slightly curlier. (Or vice versa, dunno which came first.)

In your final musings you didn't note that in the last shot of Hikaru, Jun, and Aki it looks like Aki got Sinis back from her sister too.

Man, those ending credits felt like they were just taking an opportunity to show all the cool stuff they know they'll never get to do in the series. Makes me kinda sad because it was a good show and it seemed like the best was yet to come. Hopefully everything works out, but it doesn't feel like it will after they threw so many story beats at us like that.

Looks like the two combined into one, I don't remember them doing that in the show.

Was there any significance to the pregnant woman in that last shot? Hikaru gave up his seat, but it seemed like a random way to close out the series.

Well, that's how the series began, with him on the train agonizing over whether or not he should give up his seat to a pregnant woman and what people would think of him if he did or if he didn't. Now he just does it without worrying about it, showing how he's changed. She had a baby rather than being pregnant though, so it's possible it was the same woman as at the start of the series. Smile
