It’s tracking to be a massive box office bomb.
Why they keep letting Jason DeMarco make these half baked projects is beyond me. Uzumaki should have been the straw that broke the camel’s back. |

It was never meant to make any money in the first place. The only reason the film was greenlit and put into production was to keep film rights from reverting back to the Tolkien estate. Still looks to be doing better than the last Hobbit movie, though... |

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt2310332/ This thing apparently cost around $30 million, and it's set to open to under $10 million. Break-even for this is almost $100 million worldwide. |

The film exists only to retain the rights but The Hunt for Gollum 2026 is where the real bread will be buttered. Everyone's favorite video game hero is finally in his own movie and by the mastermind behind Venom 2, no less. The cinematic universe it is supposed to spawn will make a Morbillion and more. Just like those SPUMC films. I love Hollywood!

Big: With the Hobbit movies, you gotta split the take between Warner, MGM, and the Tolkien Estate befor paying the crew.

No, it's the worst reviewed of the WB LOTR films. I mentioned it a while back, but this was a shockingly upfront mess. There were comments from Kamiyama about the extensive animation outsourcing. The nepobaby script writers were apparent. The fact that it was greenlit as a contractual obligation got trade coverage before we had any footage. You rarely get that level of honesty. |

It's not an adaptation, it's a fanfic.
